Why would Detroit trade Ned? He's been in Detroit 1 season and he played in 59 games and that was far too many considering he was still rookie. Yzerman had to bring in someone to take some of the load off of him. Plus he requested the trade to Detroit.

In Pittsburgh.... where he's played his entire career. He's not going to sign for that cheap anywhere else. He'd also likely want longer term as well.

As for Detroit. They need a LHD who is specifically a defensive defenseman. In other words a Brodin type, Dumba isn't what they're looking for and they literally just traded for Husso yesterday.

They fully expect to use both Husso and Ned as their tandem going forward. There is no goalie situation there.

And the only goalie situation the Wild have is that Talbot wants an extension and pay raise because of what Fleury got. That doesn't change the fact he's under contract for next season and if he wants an extension he should just play his ass off this upcoming season make up the difference on the open market next year.
