Description

This assumes Allvin doesn't get a trade he likes for Miller and decides to either continue to work towards re signing him or trading at the deadline.
Hurts to lose Garland and Rathbone but both are areas of depth and this would clear significant cap while keeping a competitive team and gaining some long term assets in the 12OA and Peeke.

Columbus apparently are looking for cost controlled players and might be willing to move their 12 pick to do so.

Not a logical trade for Columbus. Canucks fans should really be looking elsewhere for RD. The CBJ don't have a surplus so them trading away any of the 3 NHL capable RD or the one they have in development doesn't make sense. They also have an abundance of LD prospects behind two very solid LD in Werenski and Gavrikov. Acquiring more LD prospects is not a logical move either.

...I'm really curious as to where this impression came from. If we can isolate and diagnose this, we might be able to help a lot of people.

For the record, while I really like Garland and wish we could add him, the extreme surplus of forwards we have means he has to be classified as a "really nice to have", and so we can't afford to significantly weaken an already fragile position in pursuit of him.

in my head the RD's were Gavrikov, Bean, Boqvist and Peeke with Bean playing his offside. I just didn't check, just one season removed from having Jones and Savard as well likely adds to the impression.

I think in the future I may point out that big loss, then. Because that's fair - we did previously have very solid RD depth, and other folks may well have just not quite put two and two together like that.

(And G-d, if only Gav was a RHD. The top pairing would absolutely be a solved problem.)
