And *in theory* we could extend him, but i don’t think we’d want to spend assets to bring in a 3rd defenseman that would have a big Cap Hit with us

I mean with all due respect, unless negotiations go wrong, dumba as of right now isn't available.

I really like Asplund and he does have untapped offensive potential, but Dumba is a RHD who over his career averages 12 goals and 35 pts over 82 games.
A late second and Asplund (as much as I like him), a checking LW does not seem to be enough, but what do I know.
Ristolainen who had similar offensive skills returned a first, second and Hagg.
I would imagine if Buffalo made this trade, and Dumba's stats remained similar, he would return at least the same as Ben Chiarot, first, fourth and a prospect with some potential at the TDL.
IMO the offer would make the Sabres consider their options before rejecting it.

I think the pretty noteworthy difference is that Minneosta is a cap constrained team that is missing some big punch down the middle. Also everyone knows the flyers made a meme dumb choice with that Risto trade and its unlikely to be any GMs comparable.
Sure I could see more added, but there's not a huge market for Dumba and IMO the wild have a strong D core without him
