Description
Realistically the Habs in this scenario would sign a 1A goalie in UFA, but I have them embracing the tank in this AGM by having Khudobin and Montembeault be our tank commanders. Guhle and Barron are called up after the deadline after being allowed to dominate the AHL for the first 2/3 of the season.

Condition: DAL’s 2023 1st is top 10 protected.
DAL
  1. Petry, Jeff
  2. Choix de 3e ronde en 2022 (CAR)
Détails additionnels:
Dallas gets rid of two horrible contracts, get a third and acquire a replacement for Klingberg (who walks to UFA in this scenario). The price is a 2023 protected first, as the trade would obviously happen after the draft due to the Stars wanting to try and keep Klingberg beforehand. I know Dallas fans will be quick to point out that the Stars would want Petry’s salary to be retained a little bit, but I can’t see Hughes committing that for 3 years and I believe acquiring Faksa’s horrible deal easily makes up for that.
2.
EDM
  1. Allen, Jake
  2. Poehling, Ryan
Détails additionnels:
It has been revealed recently that the Oilers would only consider moving Puljujarvi for a piece that would help them win immediately. Allen and Puljujarvi probably have similar trade value (around a 2nd round pick) and the swap makes sense for both teams, especially considering the Oilers are in desperate need of a fix in net and that they tried to acquire Allen at the deadline. Additionally, the Oilers also want to get rid of Barrie and his bad contract. So the Habs take him off their hands, allowing EDM to have way more cap space, and add Poehling to the deal to even out the overall value.

MTL
  1. Choix de 3e ronde en 2023 (ARI)
ARI
  1. Hoffman, Mike
Détails additionnels:
The Coyotes want to acquire overpaid NHL-calibre players to fill out their lineup that they could later flip at 50 % retained salary for more value. This trade is hence pretty self-explanatory.
4.
NYR
  1. Drouin, Jonathan (2 750 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Rangers get a cheap rental middle 6 offensive winger and get rid of Nemeth’s bad contract at the cost of an already expandable asset in Lundkvist. Threw in Gauthier in the deal because he made a trade request and, despite him not really having any value, I’m sure he’d be a good addition to the AHL team anyway.
5.
MTL
  1. Beauvillier, Anthony
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2022 (NYI)
NYI
  1. Anderson, Josh
  2. Norlinder, Mattias
  3. Choix de 1e ronde en 2022 (CGY)
Détails additionnels:
Habs trade up in the draft and get a nice redemption project in Beauviller who can help replace Dadonov’s spot on the lineup once they’re inevitably dealt at the deadline. Isles get a winger they reportedly really want without affecting their current cap situation greatly by only moving down 13 spots in a draft where the talent gap between 13 and 26 isn’t huge. Norlinder is added in the deal to even out the value.
6.
MTL
  1. DiPietro, Michael [Droits de RFA]
VAN
  1. Choix de 4e ronde en 2022 (MTL)
Détails additionnels:
The Canucks don’t really need DiPietro anymore with the emergence of Demko. They recoup an early 4th (which is basically a late 3rd) for him. Habs take a gamble on him returning to his junior form under a new system.

You’re getting Drouin in the deal at 50 % retained, who, all things considered, has still managed to produce at a second line level despite clearly needing a change of scenery and you’re getting rid of Nemeth’s 2.5M cap hit (who isn’t even good enough to make this roster atm. Lundkvist is outclassed on their defensive rpsopect depth chart anyway so he’s definitely expandable.

Can you prove that the isles would reportedly give up a 1st and Beauvillier for Anderson? Habs fans are the only ones who think this is realistic.

Drouin has 8 goals in the last 2 years combined. Not even worth the 50% retained lol. Nemeth isn't that bad for 2.5 x 2 to give up lundkvist.

There’s nothing on Beauvillier, but NRD (who is a super reliable insider) has reported the Isles are interested in Anderson and would even be willing to part with pick 13 in a deal for him. I also added pick 26 in the deal, so essentially, they’re trading down 13 spots (in a draft where the quality at 13 and 26 is pretty similar) and parting ways with Beau (who needs a change of scenery) for Anderson.

If I were the Isles I wouldn’t do the deal I proposed above at all, especially as I do prefer Beau over Andy anyway. I just think that I could easily see Lou doing that trade, especially since Anderson’s perceived value amongst NHL GMs is much higher than it actually should be.

Drouin is not a goal scorer and he has missed a lot of games in the last 2 seasons, what you’re saying is a bit misleading. Ever since joining the Habs, he’s always played at a 40+ point pace in the regular season despite the team not being really good.

I’m not saying Nemeth has the worst contract ever. He really doesn’t. However, he’s definitely overpaid and the Rangers are in a position where every penny matters. No GM would trade positive value for Nemeth right now anyway. Lundkvist doesn’t have crazy value either, as he’s probably worth around a 2nd round pick.

"Redemption project"?!? Anthony Beauvillier had the same year Anderson had. And here are some more figures:

A. Beauvillier over the last two years : 122 games, 27 goals, 62 points, 16:50 ToI, 80% of the cap hit of Josh Anderson
Josh Anderson over the last two years : 121 games, 36 goals, 56 points, 17:14 ToI, $5.5 million for 5 years

Plus/minus is a coarse statistic, but Anderson is minus 35 over the last two seasons (-25 last year) while Beauvillier is plus 5 (minus 10 last year).

Note that you're combining two items from "a super reliable insider": (1) that NY might have interest in Anderson, and (2) that NY might be interested in moving the #13 overall selection. You and your fellow Habs fans shouldn't conflate the two and jump to the absurd conclusion that NY would be willing to trade #13 for Anderson.

I am not combining two items. He quote tweeted a tweet saying this: “Reports coming in that the #Isles have shown growing interest in #GoHabsGo Josh Anderson and are rumored to be willing to send their 13th overall pick to get a deal done. Losing count as to how many teams have inquired on Anderson. Could be all smoke or maybe...#NHL” and basically confirmed this being true.

I do agree that Beauvillier is better than Anderson, but that doesn’t mean that that’s what NHL GMs think. Points isnt the reason Anderson is perceived as valuable by NHL GMs. Anderson is a rare type of player that boomer GMs absolutely adore as he combines physicality and goal scoring with incredible speed. Because of this, he has a lot of value right now for some stupid reason. He will fetch a surprising haul fs if he’s dealt and I can easily see Lou being the type of GM to do the deal I mentioned above. Just because i’m proposing a mock trade doesn’t mean I think the opposing team should do it. I just think that it’s a deal I can easily see the opposing GM accepting irl in the current market.

NRD never said that the islanders would give pick 13 for Anderson. I know what he said.

Lou usually goes after players with high hockey IQ, Anderson might be the dumbest player in the NHL. He wouldn’t fit anywhere in the isles top 9.

When proposing a trade it’s usually a good idea to to take into account the other teams needs. Pick 13 is only being moved for a top line player who can put up 60-70 pts. Anderson isn’t that guy

Oh, so now it's not "a super reliable insider" who's breaking a story but simply a guy retweeting someone else's unsubstantiated fable. Okay, just being careful.

the guy who tweeted the tweet in question has like 800 followers and is not known for breaking news by any stretch. if someone like friedman or seravalli or dreger was saying it, that’s one thing, but a random habs journalist with more interactions on that one tweet than he has followers is not exactly a reliable insider
