Puljujärvi is going to cost at least $3-4M on his next contract.

But I want Guerin to make a play for him as well. But I'm not moving Beckman to do it.

Ideally you get rid of Greenway and put Pulji with Ek and Foligno

No thank you to Jesse. Dude is a cancer and worse less physical player than fiala. He's also not a dean Evason and Guerin type of player. He already left Edmonton once because he wasn't playing on a certain line and refused to show up, now he's doing the same

Greenway as a person and player is better than Jesse. Highly suggest looking up Jesse's history as a person and player

No, you keep the GREEF line intact and put Puljujärvi with Boldy and hope Rossi centers them next year.

Puljujärvi is less physical than even Greenway is at times.

With how physical Ek and Foligno are as players I couldn’t care less if Pulji is not physical, that line needs to generate more offense and Greenway is one of the least offensively threatening players on the team.

Puljujarvi left Edmonton because the organization made him play through two very damaged hips that required surgery to repair. A doctor quite literally had to take a dremel to his hip spurs while the massively-incompetent Oilers brass dictated that Puljujarvi should "tough it out" and take shots to numb the pain. They yo-yo'd him between the minors and the press-box. When he got icetime, especially under Hitchcock, it was less than 8 minutes per night. The media has adopted him as their whipping boy ever since he broke into the league and wasn't immediately #4ov calibre.

Jesse genuinely could not speak English when he arrived in Edmonton the fall of 2016 and the club elected to not bother getting him a tutor or interpretor until his second or third year with the team. This is a man alienated by the franchise that drafted him. To equate his character to less than that of a scorned employee actively suggests that you believe he deserved the mistreatment.

It's absolutely fine to not want the player based on production or physicality or their not filling a position of need, but to artificially attack someone's character is pretty gutless.

Any chance of a straight-up Greenway-Puljujarvi swap?

As a fan I would do it but I have no idea if Bill Guerin has any interest in a move like that

Given that the rumored asking price for him is a 2nd round pick or a 3rd and a prospect. Very likely not.

I would offer our 2nd and a prospect like Marshall Warren for him. Maybe the Vancouver 2nd if there's enough of a bidding war. But I wouldn’t move Greenway for him.

Shame. I'm far more preferential to a deal that actively improves the Oilers instead of trading for futures.

He wants out, which lowers the return. And I was going by the rumored asking price, I even added to it... in point of fact.

Getting a rostered player that actively improves the team seems like a stretch given what Fiala got.

Was Fiala expected to go for anything other than futures? I didn't follow his situation too closely and really only ever saw things like #7 and a prospect as legitimate offers.

Not particularly no. But my point lent more towards the fact he was an arbitration eligible RFA without a contract that got back less than what his value likely should of been given the known quantity of his inability to stay. And Jesse doesn't want to stay and wants out of Edmonton. Other GM's know this, and it puts Holland in a bind.

Guerin is the type of GM that will absolutely give fair value for the player, but I doubt he'd send 1/3 of the best shutdown line in hockey in order to do it. I mean maybe it's possible he sends one of Kulikov or Jost as part of the package but again I can't see a scenario where Greenway gets delt.
