For the most part your trades are actually fairly realistic and spot on value-wise, so kudos to you smile

The first trade is pretty good as value...until you see the amount of retention. A team like the Flyers can't afford to retain that much, as this season (like all seasons) they are going to be spending to the cap.

No comments on the TBL trade, it's pretty good and probably what the TBL will get for Killorn, and Killorn in probably the most likely player to be dealt from that team.

The third trade is very solid as far as value goes, except for the part where the Canucks are the ones to retain the salary. The Canucks cannot afford to retain anything as (just like the Flyers) they are going to be spending to the cap already. I think if you change the Canucks to another team (such as the Predators, NJD, or CBJ) the trade is solid.

Philly says no and I don’t think JVR is the answer to what we’re looking for.

Also wouldn’t send a first for Kilorn. He’s good but Tampa is gonna likely be in a cap crunch so if we can get him for a steal, do it but not sending a first. Rather keep the first or use it to get a higher end player in Necas package.

Idk much about lorentz but from a quick glance at his stats, this doesn’t seem like great value for the leafs. I don’t think the value is far off but kerfoot scored 50 points with no PP time, he PKs and can play center or wing. Surely he’s worth more than that

Agree, PHI wont retain that much and LD is probably their deepest position, so its meh prospect Suzuki and a 3rd for 3.5mil in retention.

Lorentz and Bear, even their rights, are worth more than Kerfoot at 50%

I get where you’re coming from but seems like Kerfoot is getting about a 2nd on average on here. Lorentz is a young fourth liner with some upside to slot into the middle 6 potentially. He’s not going to be a star or anything but he’s cheap and effective so I’d think a 3rd plus Lorentz is pretty fair value for Kerfoot.

A 26 year old 4th liner is worth more than a 50 point winger making 3.5 million?

He's 26, he's less than 2 years younger than Kerfoot. He's not young, he's in his prime and upside at this stage is wishful thinking.

Sure. Worst case it’s a cheap 4th liner and a 3rd which is probably about what a late second is worth and what Kerfoot typically goes for on here.

A 4th line bubble player is the easiest thing in hockey to find. Kerfoot can get a much better return than that.

Philly might retain 2 million then do that deal. Reduce that cost for us. Philly can buy out Gardiner or use him. A buy out would save them 4 million over keeping him and 3 million over buying out JVR. If they keep him, its a 1 million savings.

A 5 million dollar JVR is still kind of risky but still fairly useful.

Trading a 1st for a rental doesn’t make sense

Ok. I don’t think Kerfoot can get a “much better return” than a third rounder alone. Probably a late second rounder so you’ll probably be disappointed if you think he’s getting a first or something.

Late 2nd rounder is better than a 3rd rounder. I would imagine he can get a better prospect and a lesser pick without trouble.

Exactly. These are marginal differences, not a much better return.

A 3rd and a throw away contract is about 33% less than a 2nd.

The difference between a late 2nd and an early 3rd is extremely marginal. Lorentz also fetches a 6th if you want to go down the draft pick rabbit hole so an early 3rd and a 6th is probably very close to a late second.

True enough, but it seems like Carolina sees value in Kerfoot but want him cheap.
