Don't hate it. Got excited about the false report of them signing ryan huska. But this is good too.

I like this move, highly praised by former players of his, Canadian Media, and Montreal's fan base. I'd assumed for awhile now Richardson would be the HC, I think he plenty qualified to lead this team during their rebuild.

I just based my opinion on Calgary developing their younger players better than Montreal in my opinion. I'll have to do some research on Richardson.

Development is what this job is all about. I hear they are simply looking for a coach to get them back into contention and likely will move on to a playoff proven coach from there.

In all honesty, I couldn't care less about hiring a head coach right now. I though King was promising as a rebuild/developmental coach and would also be fine for tanking next season. But a more commanding presence than him is definitely welcome. Hopefully he sticks around in on Richardsons coaching staff, though. Richardson seems fine, but it's an "I'll believe it when I see it" situation. Hopefully he turns out to be the right guy for the job. Also, I still think CHI should get more in a Cat to Sens trade if we are taking back a substantial cap dump like Zaitsev or Murray AND sending them Murphy too.

Isn't Strome apparently not getting a QO? Why would TO waste a 1st when they can move Mrazek for far less? Strome isn't even all that good.

If he's traded before his QO is due, then there is value to the acquiring team and would pass the rights for Toronto to qualify him versus letting him test free agency.

I mean if you don't think a 50 to 60 point center isn't good then pass on it. But you're thinking about this wrong. Mrazek will cost a 2nd to move, maybe even including Abruzzese, so gaining the rights to qualify Strome they are only going from a late 1st to late 2nd and certainly a 50 to 60 point center is worth that.

A 50-60 point center on a bad team. On a good team what is he? He's not a good skater, he doesn't offer above average defence and isn't overly physical. He's just not all that good. If he doesn't get his QO then he'll be signed to a 1 or 2 year deal for less than his QO. I'd give him 1.5-2.5 max if I was the Leafs because I just don't think he offers anything they need. Send him somewhere else.

Exactly, a 50 - 60 point player on a BAD team. On a good team, he'd be a lot better. He is excellent in front of the net, elite passing and elite vision. Skating is average or slightly below which holds him back. If he was a faster skater he'd be a 70 to 80 point player. If he doesn't get his QO by the Hawks or who they MAY trade to, he'll easily get his $3.6M qualifying offer.

That just isn't usually the case. A guy gets 50 points on a bad team because he gets more opportunities. On a good team there are better players ahead of him, which will see opportunities and ice time drop.

It's about puck possession and offensive zone time when especially a offensive player is on the ice, and the Hawks sucked at both so Strome's opportunities to be in the offensive zone with the puck will greatly improve.

I am not sure he would play anywhere but 2nd pp and the 4th line. He's not good enough defensively to play on Keefe's 3rd line and he's not fast enough to play with Nylander and JT. That line needs a fast power forward.

And he was above 50% at the dot last season, another improving aspect of his game, his defence also looked better once King took over, not saying its great but definitely can see improvements in his weakness's. The only big knock is his skating, Guys can still perform without being the fastest guys on the ice.
