Kings say no. Kings dont want Miller. They could have gotten Eichel for less.

We are more likely to look for trades out of our division. We don’t want to see these prospects and picks hurting us later and we don’t want to help your cap relief. Canucks aren’t as far off from competition as people think. We don’t want another future team to compete against for the playoffs.

Should Canuck's add? What if it became a Miller + Rathbone or Miller + Schenn? The kings are in a funny spot because they have a chance with their current core to compete but then there's a transition period once Kopitar starts to regress. Miller could give the KIngs 2-3 Solid runs and still be 31-32 when Byfield, Durzi, Turcotte, Vilardi are all making significant impact in the league

In a scenario where there isn't an out of division trade, should Vancouver add? or is the value nearly equal for both teams?

Miller is more valuable to a team looking for a center. The Kings are set and have future prospects in that area. Kopitar and Miller would be fine, but providing cap relief and and an excess of futures to me makes little sense considering Forsberg could be had for free and players like Debrincat and Fiala are available.

Miller played a majority of his career as a left winger and a majority of his time in Vancouver as a left winger. The way the games were run is that he's very good at faceoffs but Pettersson played better in the center position so Miller would take the faceoffs then Pettersson and Miller would switch spots.

A Top 6 next season might look like

Miller-Kopitar-Kempe
Iafallo-Danault-Kaliyev

As a kings fan though, your opinion has more weight than mine so that's valid if you don't think the Kings would be interested in Miller outright

Miller would be great the issue is.

In division means he comes at a premium, selling prospects and picks to a team you will play 4+ times a year and more likely in playoffs. We aren’t far off on where we have compete windows, I see your team trading with Vegas more likely than us.

It would cost LA Durzi, a 1st and KUPARI at least. Considering the Rangers offered a 1st, Lundkvist, and CHYTIL and that didn't get the deal done.

I dont think Kupari or Spence are available at the moment. The Kings dont really have a chance to win and Kopitar already regressed. Adding Miller will not bring them a cup. Good player but the wrong fit for the Kings.

Rangers need a player like Miller more than the Kings. Kings need a somewhat one dimensional goal scoring right winger around 25 years old and a top 4 left dman with size and powerplay ability. And a goalie prospect thats 1 or 2 years away from the NHL.

The Kings need to get better on d, not waste assets on a guy they don’t need.

Welcome to CapFriendly! Sometimes, it's not too friendly.

My friends @tryger and @Enrique have covered this subject accurately and sufficiently; I'm just adding reinforcement. Fiala will be cheaper, both in the short- and long-term, Forsberg won't cost us anything at all, and the assets we would be sending to Vancouver for Miller are only going to show up on the ice against us. Miller just isn't a good fit for us.

I don't disagree. I'm just replying to the poster's idea of a Vancouver LA trade.
