PSA to EDM AGMs

Description
It needs to be said because of the vast quantity of delusional oiler fans that keep posting it. The habs DO NOT WANT BARRIE. The trade makes 0 sense on multiple levels for the habs

The habs already have their Dcore set for next year. Even if they trade Petry they still have Savard Wideman and Barron at RD along with Edmundson who have extensive RD experience. They dont need him they have enough bodies already.

They already have Wideman who is only a slight downgrade at a fraction of the cost. Barrie finished outside the top 10 in PP P/60 this year among dmen (while playing with mcdavid and draisaitl) and finished on pace for less than 50 points. The gap isnt that big between him and wideman and doesnt justify the major cap difference. He isnt a premier offensive dman anymore and will only get worse as he ages and doesnt get gifted easy mcdavid points.

The habs are also rebuilding so spending assets on a soon to be 31 year old defensively deficient dman makes 0 sense. Some of the AGMs have the habs giving up their 33rd overall pick + why would they not use that on a player in their 20s who would ACTUALLY be around in 5 years.

Cap wise it also makes no sense which should be obvious.

The ONLY way Barrie ends up on the habs is if they pay the habs to take him. And that wont be cheap.

Hey look, another one of these idiotic threads. As always, let's have a look.

The 'vast quantity' of Edmonton fans posting Barrie to Montreal trades: 2 in the last 50 Edmonton AGMs. If 2 AGMs in 50 is too much for you, might I suggest the problem isn't Edmonton fans ... its you.

Comparing Barrie to Wideman is like comparing McDavid to Suzuki. Not meant to be disrespectful towards Wideman but not on the same level or even close.

How about we all agree to stop sending Barrie to Montreal and stop moving Anderson to Edmonton. Seems like a fair trade off for all of our sanity.

The gap isnt that big. from Jan1 to the end of the season Barrie only had 3 more PP points than Wideman in 42 games despite getting to play with mcdavid and draisaitl.

That's also coming off a statistically bad season for barries standards. At his worst he's still better than Wideman at his best. I'm Honesty not intending to downplay Wideman or discredit him there's a reason why one is paid over 4 million and the other is floating around league min.

To add to your points;

1. MTL is rebuilding and have no interest to pay for a soon to be UFA. Like, lower their chances to get Bedard?!?!

2. MTL doesnt have any capspace so far for next season. Hughes main ojective is to substract salary, not to add!

3.Few EDM fans trades take caphit back since their objective is to dump Barrie's contract. But why look at the finances of the team you are trying to do business with, right?

4. MTL already have 3 NHL level RHD + at least 3 puck moving prospects. Can do without even if he would make the roster.

I'm ok with a Hofman for Barrie idea, but most of the crazy amount of EDM AGMs this week are laughable.

By that logic is Vlasic still a 1D because he is being paid like one? Theres a reason why there are so many AGM threads where the oilers dump him and its because he isnt worth his contract. And its not a bad season by his standards 3 of his last 6 seasons were around the same pace.

At 31 and going to a non mcdavid teams its also not remotely reasonable to expect it to get better. If he gets traded he likely wont have a 40 point season again.

Heavily disagree. If he gets moved he's got a couple good productive years ahead.

Based on what? Age is not on his side. 2 of the last 3 years are not on his side. Whoever he goes to will have a worse offensive roster. None of that supports a rebound

Looking at recent history only being a year removed from leading all d in points. To start this year he was the quarterback while the pp was producing at historic levels. He must be pretty good if he's making Connor and Leon more efficient. Age don't see being a factor for a couple more seasons he doesn't play heavy style also doesn't have injury history to be concerned about.
