I would not give up pick 13 for sergachev. He really hasn’t been good the past two seasons despite playing on a stacked lightning team. At best he’s a #3 D and I wouldn’t give up a chance to draft a high end forward to trade for him.

Whatever the case, I think he’s the type of player we need. Young, can skate, moves the puck. Legit top 4 defenseman. I would love to trade for him honestly

OTT declines, I know Dorian said he wants to add "Veteran" leadership, but not Bailey.

But he’s not a top pairing defenseman and he’s known for not being reliable. There’s only one defenseman who might be available that would worth pick 13 and that’s Rasmus sandin.

I just don’t see a reason to overpay for a mediocre defenseman that doesn’t move the needle. The only way pick 13 should be moved is either for Fiala or a another young top line forward. This team as constructed won’t make the playoffs

I would actually say Sergachev is close to the opposite player the isles need. He’s not good defensively and he’s mediocre offensively. If he has that impact on the lightning I don’t want to know what it’s going to be like on an old and slow islanders team

I don’t understand the Bailey hate, but Ottawa has a lot of young forward prospects so I don’t really understand the Bailey to Ottawa rumors. I could see the Isles or Ottawa considering a Bailey for White and/or Brannstrom deal, but that’s radically different than what was proposed here. I’m not saying it’s a good deal for either side, just an educated guess on what Dorian and Lou would consider.

There was a White for Bailey talk which si the Sens trying to get out of a couple of years of Whites contract, but it still doesn't help the Sens.

The thing is the Sens do have a lot of young players and they need roster spots, as well with the likes of Formenton, Joseph, Pinto, and Brown rotating on the third line, you are making your team worse by throwing in a 5 Mill, +30 player that has never broken 20 goals in a season, your left with the same problem that White creates for the Sens.

I don’t disagree with your assessment, but I do think Bailey could bring value to an organization with less forward prospects than Ottawa.

I wouldn’t agree that you are worse, but I get that Bailey has a bit of a rep on the site since some fans really hate him.

No NEED/SPOT for "insert name here" in Ottawa

The only type of forward the Sens NEED is a CLEAR Top-6 WINGER

Thank you for avoiding these proposals in the future so we don't have to open these pages

It's not really the prospects though. A lot of guys already established (some very recently)

Norris, Stutzle, Tkachuk, Batherson, Brown, Formenton, Joseph, White. Pinto would be named here if he didn't get injured last season.

Then there's the spot contenders and yes there's plenty as well.

He has a great shot, that was never in question. He just doesn't drive play or move the puck well. Acquiring him would just make the isles the poster team for mediocrity. Not good enough to contend, not bad enough to get a high pick.

Isles desperately need to draft one of Lambert/Nazar/Lekerimaki or trade the pick in a package for one of Fiala/Debrincat. I would say that trading pick 13 for any defenseman that isn't a franchise defenseman will end up punching their ticket to a long and painful rebuild within the next year

If I was the isles, I'd keep Sorokin, Dobson, Wahlstrom, Barzal, Pelech, Pulock and go for a big retool. Need to inject some young blood. Too many players are "aging", it's going to be hard to contend in the East. They made back-to-back ECFs which is great. Time to renew and then go for it again. All the pieces above are 27 and younger, build around them

Yeah they need to get younger without mortgaging the future (unless it’s fro Debrincat). Trading high picks and prospects for almost anyone else makes no sense. I would trade Varlamov and Mayfield, make the pick at 13 , and target undervalued young players around the league who are on the verge of breaking out
