Leafs aren't trading Knies, he's an untouchable prospect who is close to NHL ready and Sandin is also an untouchable. Dubas didn't even want to trade Liljeren for JT Miller which was the reported ask. You're not getting a big package for a rental, if the Canucks wanted a big offer, should have been when he had an extra year

Leafs are better in 2-3 years not making this deal. Knies, Sandin, and that pick this year could be huge in replacing Muzzin, Bunting, and Kerfoot.

Maybe he should have and you would have won a series. What are you on about no big package for rental? Rentals get big packages every year, you guys gave a first for Nick Foligno, JT Miller got more points than Marner last year you better believe he will be getting a large haul for the Canucks

Not even. Miller is better than Nylander and Myers would fetch a decent return at 50% retained. It’s been reported there’s a market for Myers of at least 14 teams looking at him.

Miller is older, and has one year left before he wants a massive retirement contract, not to mention that he is almost guarenteed to regress next year. Their values are about the same.
Myers is awful, he's been awful since his 2nd year and just because teams are interested in him doesnt mean he is good. He's slow, cant defend and he cant even put up points any more. He's replacement level on his best day.

I love it when people have nothing so they just accuse others of not watching.

It's because your basing his value off the narrative around him not the actual player. Myers has value @ 3 million/year youre not finding better at that price point on the UFA market

1 year of Miller half retained is worth a 1st and hirvonen and maybe another prospect like Kral. But neither sandin or knies is worth it for us.

So bad that he averages 20+ min a night and there’s a reported 14 teams inquiring about him. He’s overpaid for sure but Myers at 3-4mill is a good asset

I know some people disregard handedness but the leafs have 5 left handed D men next year with Gio. Friedman said moving Sandin could be an option for the leafs and if they want to win now its not a bad option. The D could be Rielly-Brodie, Muzzin-Myers, Gio-Liljegren. That's a good defense and it fixes the handedness issue. Miller and Myers retained gets way more than a 1st and two AHL players. A 1st, Sandin Knies and cap dump Holl is still a small return for the Canucks here but its pretty close.

you do realise that playing a lot simply means that you play a lot and doesnt actually mean you play well right? And someone saying "14 teams are interested in player X" literally means nothing either without who actually said that right?
Either way, Myers is terrible. His numbers are horrible, his eye test is also horrible and no amount of rumoured interest or ice time can compensate for that.

adding myers makes the leafs defence worse, he's worse than Sandin right now and that gap will only widen. Miller would be a nice add, but for one season he isnt worth a guy like Knies and whatever else they;d have to add and that's before you factor in that Miller is likely to decline and not be as good next season

I still think this trade is worth it. In 2-3 years the leafs would be better if the team stays the same, but they have to re-sign Matthews and Nylander, both with raises, and I wouldn't be surprised if Nylander or Matthews left in free agency. Their chance for a serious cup run is the next two years, especially this year. They need players at cheap to win and having Miller at the same price as Holl will be the best value forward in the league.

Man you solved the problem coaches have been having for decades. Why didn’t they think of not playing him so much if he was that bad? Got to relay this info to Bruce and the boys. Thanks dude, so smart. You should be a GM or Coach with your brilliant insight. You’re clearly smarter than any other coach in the league

Holl isn't a cap dump? It's a downgrade for us to go from Holl at 2M to Myers at 3M and with the question of muzzins health they won't be moving sandin unless it's for a sure fire top 4 left D. So we have no interest in Myers... In the slightest and 1 year of Miller isn't worth the rest.

Edit: Brodie may be left handed but his prefered side is right, which makes it technically 4 left D
