There's a big drop off in quality after 1st overall imo. Not really comparable in my eyes.

Hab fans think Suzuki is elite level good. He’s really good don’t get me wrong but 60 point centers don’t get you the 2nd overall pick in a elite level draft. Devils should keep the puck unless a team offers Power or some other high end prospect at a position they need.

lafreniere Byfeild Stützle Raymond Sanderson Drysdale Holtz? Massive drop off from #1 overall? Depends on the draft and this current one is really really deep. Wright Slafkovsky Cooley Nemec are all comparable talents imo. No massive drop off. Like when Hischier Patrick went #1 #2 then Heiskanen Makar Pettersson went after.

I strongly disagree. Imo Cooley is the best player in the top 5. Wright gives me Laf vibes where he won’t live up to the hype. Next years draft I would agree Bedard is going to be one of the best player we’ve seen imo. Mcdavid level

Suzuki is in no way worth the 2nd overall. I’m not sure if id even part with a top 10 pick for him. He’s good but not elite. He’s a 2nd line C

60 pts at 22 years old and in the worst team. Read the fine prints. That should project an 80 pt player

Saying that statement out loud pretty much confirms that you don’t really know who he is. 22yo right handed center that plays a complete 200 foot game who regularly played 22+ min/night and still managed to score 60 pts while playing for half the season under Don Ducharme is remarkable. It’s not like he was getting carried too… Playing with subpar wingers until Caufield kinda became relevant… Is he an MVP type of player ? No. But he’s definitely a core piece to any franchise and pair that with the superb contract he’s on for the next 8 years and the fact he still have yet to miss a game since his career started is just too good. I’d rather have Suzuki on my roster than any of the prospects in this year’s draft easily.

IMO it’s Caufield or bust for the 2nd pick. That’s how I see it from a NJ perspective.
