Description
Edvinsson (or Johansson) makes the team out of camp - get him a vet to play with on the right side (Schmidt)

Provorov trade for Hronek+2nd. Top pair no longer has DDK holding Seider back, can QB PP2 if Edvinsson isn’t ready.

Bring up Berggren to a top 6 role. I think he has to play an offensive forward game, bottom 6 aint it.

Sign Copp to play 2C, making Suter 3C where he's better suited.

Resign Staal/Walman/Stephens and sign Hinostroza for depth.

Sign Lankinen or any UFA goalie as stop-gap for Cossa.

Basic Concept: Nothing here hurts their ability to resign core players and makes them much more competitive in the meantime IMO. I like the look of that lineup, maybe swap Bert and Vrana for some more grit on 2nd line with Berggren/Copp. Let me know if this is close or if I'm way out to lunch.

I've seen this trade 1000 times and think it makes sense for both. Someone get Stevie and Chev on the line to get it done. If Schmidt can play RD as well, it really shores up our top 4 for the next 3 yrs.

If Philly sells that low on Provorov, it'll absolutely bite them in the butt. Even after a so-so season, as a non-Flyers fan, I'd still give up a good amount to get him on my team.

Definitely does. Some DET fans have asked why they’re taking on salary without being paid to do it. Don’t think they realize that Schmidt is still a solid contributor and that he plays both sides and would be an excellent mentor for detroits young dmen.

It’s one of those to obvious and logical to actually happen type trades.

Maybe I am selling a bit too low for Provorov. Provy is the better player, that's why I added the 2nd. Hronek is younger/next contract still under team control. Counting stats are pretty close the last couple years, underlying lean Provy, but Hronek was on all time bad teams so hard for me to want to send too much more back.

What would you add from the Wings side?

It's really hard to say while Fletcher is in Philly to be honest tears of joy

I mean, Provy was on a worse team, so there's that...he also posted positive possession stats relative to his team which is a good thing. IMO, Provorov has proven himself as a capable top-pairing dman, whereas Hronek, while putting up big minutes, hasn't.

I think you could compare this to the Hampus Lindholm trade, which netted Anaheim a 1st, 2 x 2nd, Vaak and Moore for Lindholm (2nd or Vaak was there to pay for the Ducks to eat Moore). IMO, Provorov > Hampus (Not by much, but I'm a Ducks fan and large Hampus fan, so there should be some merit there...). Philly *should* be in a position where they're trying to get picks, but again, Fletcher...Also depends on Ellis's status-If they're committed to Ellis/Risto, then Hronek isn't a super great fit. Provorov *should* be more important to them than adding a 3 RD. I guess if you go by the Hampus trade, and said Hronek is worth something like that 1st rounder from Boston, you'd be shy a change of scenery guy (Zadina?).

I honestly don't know though...If I'm Philly, I'm sticking with Provorov, but yeah, who knows.

Copp will be re-signing in New York and Provorov is a UFA in 3 years....why give up those assets for someone that will be a UFA before this team is truly competitive?

Unless they plan on signing him to a big extension right after the trade, this doesn't make sense.

Cool with Schmidt, but options for Winnipeg are limited when it comes to moving a CAP like that. I wouldn't offer more than a 4th or a 4th & 7th..

I think Provorov takes a little bit of sweetening but possible. Might have to add a decent prospect. but like people have mentioned, might not be worth it if you dont think you can keep him when his UFA comes up. If you think you can keep him or the value of him for 3 years is greater than what you give up... great.. but i still think you need a little more here.

I like Hinostroza and Copp. I think your overpaying both though. You pay both those guys that much and your setting yourself to pay Larkin, Bert, etc. Copp has been explosive since going to New York.. does he keep that fire or is that just from being traded? I dont see any team really offering over $5M. Hinostroza is your $1.5-2M depth forward. if he is lucky he gets Erne money.
Personally I would just re-sign Gagner who had more points, is a personality on the team and wont take $3M to sign.

On my AGMs, I've been doing a similar Provorov trade, but using Bert as the main piece of the trade, not Hronek.

Thought Bert might have more value.

Yeah in my mind Provorov should be good for 7+ years so you resign him as your veteran on D. He’s in the same age range as Larkin/Bert/Vrana so I think it’d work. I don’t think the Wings can compete within Larkins window with all homegrown D.

I think Copp gets more than $5m, $7m maybe too much, I’d split the difference at 6x$6m and be good with it. Hinostroza is just a guy, I’d be fine with Gagner resigning instead.

See I think Bert has more value than Provorov and Philly has make that deal with a new contract for Bert already done. Not saying no, just more moving parts.
