I think the best case scenario is to sign one of Gaudreau or Boeser and keep the money for guy like Mercer, Hotlz, Sharangovich and bring some defensmen for next year.

Very short term thinking....it's just cap hell with Sharangovich and Siegenthaler to get raises, not to mention if you want Graves back or whatever else to fill that lineup before Luke can be a top 4 guy. Brock is fine, but giving Johnny Hockey all that money when you have a young core is dangerous.

Also, the biggest issue has been goaltending...not scoring...but you just double down on where we have improved and do nothing to stop what was an awful goaltending setup.
