Kane and Toews aren't leaving one bottom feeder for another, And at the time Seth Jones was traded. It was reported that all Canadian teams were on his no trade list. Supposedly the only teams he'd interest in signing with were Chicago and hometown Dallas.

MTL: Not a ghost of a chance. IMO the only way Toews is getting moved is if a 3rd party team eats half the salary, then the Hawks eat the other half, and he's dealt to a contending team as a 3C piece, and the Hawks may only get some very ancillary picks/prospects. Montreal is rebuilding, not contending, and Caufield is arguably their most dynamic prospect. There's 0 chance.

EDM: If Chicago ate half the contract I think Edmonton does this. But Chicago (probably) won't do that. I think it's an unmovable contract personally.

Kane probably doesn't waive his NMC to go there almost regardless of what the package coming back is. Ottawa isn't going to give up assets for a one year rental when they're not even contending.

I think on value, the Kane trade probably isn't bad? but the fit just isn't there with the Sens, Kane with his age and contract don't fit the timeline, he'll probably run out the 1 year of his contract and want to go sign with a contender. But the idea of it is fun and value is probably pretty fair
