No thank you. No reason to deal Comtois without giving him a real HC to ‘Max’ his potential

Flames decline, Lucic has a 10 team trade list, And why would Chicago even be on it?

I mean the Flames are kinda in a cap pickle, they're removing 6.35 million from the books, while acquiring Toews, who's still useful two-way center that will help Calgarys middle 6. I know Wolfs is a Stud, but Calgary has there goaltending figured out in Markstrom and Vlader.

It's not even fine print. It is obvious two salary dumps plus an upgrade in Toews plus a 2nd round pick lol. They're literally gifting Calgary $6.35M. smh.

Thoughts:
1) interesting Calgary trade. Sounds like we got some nay-sayers but to open up $6.35M, dumping 2 crappy players, adding a middle 6 centerman in Toews... idk it's interesting.
2) I don't think Toronto does that trade
3) I don't see Beaudin making the team. Would rather keep Regula or bring up Kalynuk and let Beaudin simmer in AHL another year. I have heard that Ian Mitchell is really stepping up his game.
4) If Kubalik is gone, I do think Reichel comes up permanently but if they keep him, I can see Reichel staying down in Rockford while he continues to learn, gain confidence, and most importantly, gain muscle.

I put Beaudin in a lineup as a placeholder because the Blackhawks don't have a #2 LD for next season, de Haan probably walks. So I think Kalynuk, Galvas, Beaudin will rotate in the lineup.

For the Toronto trade, That cap hit hurts. Even if they buy him out, there's going to be a dead cap of 1.5 million for 4 season and that's also going to hurt them.

You don't understand how goalie development works then, nor do you understand how high Wolfs potential is. Markstrom is 32 and maybe has 3 more top years in him (give or take a year). Vladar is a decent backup but that's more or less it at this point.

Go look up the last 5 goalies to put up similar numbers to Wolf in the AHL in their D+3 years. Here's a hint, between the 5 they have 2 Stanley Cups, 1 Vezina, and 6 top 10's in Vezina voting. Only one of those 5 did not pan out as a bonafide starter in the NHL.

How is this overpay??? The flames are going to be extremely against the cap. Say goodbye to the playoffs next year if you don't take this deal, because this is the type of deal that you have to do if you ever want to resign Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Mangiapane, and kylington. You're also getting one of the best two-way centers of the past decade and a second for a goalie prospect that you don't need since Markstrom is signed long-term and two cap dumps going our way as well as a mid-first round pick. This is a win-win.

You are acting like the only possible decision is Calgary trading their #1 prospect along with a 1st, and also taking on shell of a hockey player on Toews.

News flash Tampa was in a far worse situation last year because they were legitimately over the cap already, and some team (which team could that be?) came and took their problem away. Oh but it doesnt end there, what did it cost Tampa? Theor top prospect? No. A 1st? No. A 2nd round pick! Wow

yes, but there is a big difference between getting a player like Johnson who at the time was a reliable player, and a player like Manahan, who was a healthy scratch, and Lucic who is a fourth-liner and is very old.

Also, Toews had a slow start to the year since he was returning from a year off, but now he's back to his old form and is putting up points and is still one of the most dominant centers on the faceoff dot in the league.

In what world is Monahan healthy? Do you live under a rock? The difference is Johnson has more than 1 year left. Neither Monahan nor Lucic have multiple years. Also Johnson was literally a 4th liner and occasionally healthy scratch that passed through waivers last year.

Toews is good at faceoffs yes, however you are greatly exaggerating. He is only pacing 5 more points than he did in the first half of the season. He is no where near "back to his old form."

The CGY trade is an interesting idea. Ultimately, I think they find other ways to save cap. Even it means a buyout of either Monahan or Lucic...which I'm not even sure is needed. I don't know how long Monahan is out...if it's through next season...then it won't be hard to shed an LTIR contract for a 2nd or 3rd. AZ would likely take him because insurance would likely be paying for most of Monahan and they aren't close to the cap floor...so they just have him on IR vs LTIR and take the pick.
