Description
I assume Billy G is still planning on extending Dumba, and if that's the case, then Jacob Middleton becomes the odd guy out, and he'll have to be flipped for Futures or something

Um, I don't know that the Wild want to sell Fiala for any defensive assets, as they're blueline depth is pretty crowded as is

We aren't trading jacob Middletown. He's a restricted free agent who will be resigned. Calen Addison will mostly be traded. Jacob is 1st pairing dman with the wild and special group of restricted free agent who has no rights. So Minnesota will resign him

Or calen addison. It's weird how the team doesn't trust him at all to play bottom pairing . Guerin seems to love big body types.

It seems only yesterday that wild fans were dubbing addison untouchable

Why? Woo hasn't had a great year developing, how much do you think he's worth?

It's not about worth, it's about fit. The dcore as currently constructed is Hughes, OEL, Myers, Schenn, Rathbone, and Dermott. Plus they still have Poolman and Burroughs under contract. Their prospect pool is already bare too so trading any half decent prospect for an aging vet who doesn't make the team significantly better makes zero sense.

Kulikov has been very good for Minnesota, he isn't just some ageing vet who doesn't move the needle, he absolutely moves the needle, not to mention Podkolzin

What? He will have rights. He's met the GP threshold to not be a group 6 UFA so he's going to be a group 2 free agent (aka an RFA) this offseason. He is 26 and has 4 years of pro experience. Jacob Middleton and Kevin Fiala will be the exact same type of free agent come July.

If you think otherwise, please give me a source. I have not seen, heard, or read anything that says he will be anything other than an arbitration eligible RFA who is eligible to sign an offer sheet if he so chooses. If you think he will be a 10.2(c) RFA (like Kaprizov was last offseason, I suggest reading the CBA FAQ to get a refresher on 10.2(c) RFAs because he comes nowhere near qualifying for that status.

No he doesn't. When wild traded for him, it was mentioned if he played 14 games, he would be a special group of restricted free agent. So no , he hasn't

Find that quote then an prove me wrong. I can guarantee that you are talking out your ass. What Russo said was that if Middleton played 14 more games, he avoided becoming a group 6 UFA like Soucy did. Tonight was his 15th game with us so now he's just an average RFA with arbitration rights.

Actually, to save you some time, I'll link the actual quote from Russo....

    Quoting: Russo
Middleton is a pending restricted free agent but can become unrestricted this summer if he does not play 14 more games.

That came directly from his trade tracker on The Athletic.

Here's a tweet from PuckPedia where they also explain it.

If you need any more proof, here's a tweet from CapFriendly on March 8th which explains it too. He needed to reach 73 career games played to become an RFA. Tonight was game 74.
