Couture is good trade bait right now. He's an effective veteran leader who fills in the Sens' need for a top 6 center. Only problem I see is his term but he can easily be bought out in his last couple years.

Nope. Minnesota isn't trading Tyson Jost, whose younger and better for a worse older player, and and cap dump. So you have it wrong that it works for both sides. Don't know how you have Minnesota adding also.

Mrazek has a 1 million buyout. You aren't getting a 1st to take him on. Especially since he's a capable goalie as well.

Lmao why on earth would OTT want Couture at this stage? That contract is brutal, and given his age he doesn't line up at all with Ottawa's competitive window. It's one thing to talk about signing a guy like Claude Giroux when all it costs is cap space, but giving up significant assets and commit 8mil long term for a guy aged 33-38 would be tremendously stupid.

Also as an aside, Ottawa doesn't need a top 6 C imo. Norris is already a number 1, and Tim Stützle is a budding star just getting his feet wet as a centre.

Also Pinto is still there with his upside and Ostaputch could suprise along with Lodin. We really have no need for center in general.

I like the creativity and some of the thought process 👍 though I don't agree with some of the execution.

I like the idea of selling Meier given that he's at peak value, but only if you can get a good haul for him in return (think Holtz+Mercer). Not sure trading him to a division rival is the best way to go about it or very realistic either.

Mrazek's contract (and play) is really awful. It takes serious cap capital to get rid of him, and Reimer's a 2nd alone. If TOR can add in another 2nd to the deal so SJ can give that 2nd to ARI to take on Mrazek's contract, it makes sense for them, but not sure TOR does that, I think they just buy him out.

"Couture plays in at least half of their regular season games" I think that's pretty much a given so turn that 2nd into a 1st without the condition and I'm all for it, but again, not sure OTT does that.

Definitely pass on trading Meier for that, not close really. Don’t want Mrazek either, the 1st is to dump him so what do we get for Reimer? Just not very good returns for trying to rebuild. I don’t see how meier returns arguably less than Brandon Hagel.

Buying him out isn't a good move considering Toronto needs all the cap space they can get. They pay a late first to pretty much fix their goaltending. I'd do that if I were Toronto.

Mrazek is also not a capable goalie at all.

The market has been all over the place this year. The Hagel trade is eerily close to the Eichel trade in value (granted Eichel was expected to work out well in Vegas).

Eichel did have a neck injury and wanted what seemed to be an experimental surgery for hockey players. It was also widely known that he wanted a trade and it was limited which teams could afford him. All of those factors drove his cost down. I don’t see the sharks trading Meier for depth players like comtois and Jones. Like pastujov, was surprised he fell as far as he did in the draft.

Of course you would, because you are a Sharks fan getting a 1st and a goalie that is pretty much the same as Mrazek. A tandem starter or higher end backup.

It's easy to look at a small sample size and say "see!" But the reality is. Reimer over his career has been exactly what Mrazek is. A guy who is best served as a backup or tandem goalie. He's not a clear cut starter. Definitely a better contract but really Mrazek will have some value to a team that needs a goalie in the off season and misses out on the FA's. If not, he can be bought out for a million a season.
