True. I kinda did it on purpose though, just wanted to make it as safe as possible. Changed Schmidt's return to a 3rd rounder tho

Would love a blockbuster that brings some muscle to top 6, a future rhd dman, and future tender. Got a bad feeling that scheifele and helly want out. Was looking at a three way deal that some how get crouse/schmaultz and soderstrom to Winnipeg and picks and kids to Arizona, and a retained scheifele to ny rangers. Would love a Daws out of jersey with a stop gap georgiev. But it seems the more of these builds I do the worse they get lol.

Perfect Jets offseason would be trading Scheifele and Wheeler… the team hasn’t lost a game when both of those 2 are out of the lineup… shows something about their leadership and the true issues of the team

We're all having fun with these teams; shooting ideas around, but it baffles me to see Svechnikov scratched or on the 4th line in some of these teams when he should be with KFC and PLD. That line has been the Jets most consistent line to date, and if the stupid coaching staff never broke them off Svech would probably have 15 goals.

Maybe a third team can get involved who will take a prospect or a pick to pay a bit of his salary. No honest Jets fan thinks it will be easy. The worst thing is he was underpaid on his last contract, and now he's overpaid.

But how do you want to squeeze him in? Who is the odd man out? Yes you can play him in the 3rd but he is not a def guy at all

Replace Motte and Janmark in the lineup with Gustafsson and Svech. Drop Wheeler down to the third line if he can't be traded, and drop Apples to the 4th line.

Motte and Janmark are fine players, but in this scenario their contracts put the team up against the cap in a part of the lineup they can fill with young prospects like Gus and Barron.

Do you realize that your bottom 6 needs to be stacked as well so your team can become a legitimate contender? Why did every single team in the NHL that was a buyer at the trade deadline went for these kind of guys? If you think it's better having Svech and Gus over players like Motte and Jankrok for a serious PO run you are just one of those fans who always sees stuff in rookies that is not there yet (Gus scenario). The team needs to be stacked all the way through to be real. Motte brings grit that is sooo necessary in the POs as well. What if Lowry and Appleton get hurt? Who is your replacement for PK then? You just need that depth. Have you ever seen a regular season or playoffs in which a single team would end up completely healthy all the way through? Of course that both Svech and Gus would get a lot of NHL time, so would Ruhwedel in this case as the 7th defender. You guys are just too idealistic. Svech is great but he is the kind of a player to complete two pro players in top 6, playing him on the checking line doesn't really make any sense. Same with Wheeler, I would love to see him go but once he is in the lineup he should be in the top 6, he will be useless next to Lowry in the 3rd since his only strenght atm is play making. And in this scenario the theam wouldn't be against the cap, btw.

Not to mention that Jets bottom 6 six scoring was one league's worst. No valuable depth, just guys like Toninato, Harkins or Ves who shouldn't be NHL regulars.

The lack of bottom six scoring is based mostly on poor development in the coaching and management methods that has failed to develop prospects properly. A better coach would help in that regard. They need to put their prospects in positions to succeed; which they haven't, and one of those prospects in Gustafsson who will be making less than a mill this upcoming year who is projected to be a bottom six checker/penalty killer with some offensive skill.

The other guy who can fit into that bottom six is already on the team you made in Barron.

If Perfetti continues showing good development, the Janmark and Motte deals could hinder paying him and others, and leaving only 283,000 in cap space doesn't allow for much room when it comes to adding pieces at the deadline or managing any injuries cap wise.

Trust me, as an Islanders fan: you gotta find the middle ground on those bottom 6 players or you're gonna build a team that struggles to keep it's top-line/young talent.

You've spent $10.6M on this ACGM on bottom-6 guys (Appleton/Stastny/Janmark/Motte) and another $3.1M on a guy you have slated for LD3. they're all fine players, but by spending $13.7M on these guys, you've left yourself with no cap space for in-season improvements, and a team that's arguably not much better than this year's Jets

I tried to come up with a PO rdy team, therefore I added those bottom 6 guys. No need for additional improvements, all around built team atm. I completely understand your point but isn't the Jets top 6 already stacked enough? Scheif, Connor, Wheeler, Dubois, Ehlers and Perfetti..

"or you're gonna build a team that struggles to keep it's top-line/young talent"

No need to sign any big RFA contract in the upcoming years though

I'm sorry but I just don't get your point. You said there will be no space for managing injuries but that's why I have added Ruhwedel as the 7th D and Gus and Svech as additional F's. Those are included in the current cap. Am I not seeing something?

Also I made a complete PO ready team in this case, hence the added grit and PK abilities
