You think he'd get a first? I'm not saying it's impossible, I could see it. Especially if the market commands it like with Chairot then I could see it, but I don't think its definte he would.

He gets a 1st and a B+ prospect at least. From the NJD for example he'd get 1st + prospect

outside opinion: I'd rather pay $8M for Klingberg's age 30-34 seasons than $7M for Letang's age 35-39 run. I know he's been important to the team, but I think you get 2 okay years and 3 years you regret from that deal if you make it. Plus, Letang being 35 can potentially add additional headaches with his deal.

If Geno's willing to take a pay cut, give him the $5.5M that OP has going to Trocheck. I think that's a fair number for a guy who's been effective when healthy the past few years, but has trouble staying healthy. Gives them room to add a player if he's hurt.

As far as the Gallagher-Zucker trade, wonder if you can make it Armia-for-Zucker with a pick swap added on (favoring Pittsburgh)? Clears more immediate cap room for Pittsburgh to add for Crosby's twilight years while giving them a player who can probably give you a decent imitation of what Zucker has been bringing.

we won three cups with them... I can live with three bad years

our window is only open for 1-2 more years anyway I do not need Klingberg at all

And I would rather have Gallagher and his 20-30 goals per year for 5 years than Zucker and his >10 goals for 1 year.

They have the same amount of goals this year with Zucker playing 12 less games but yeah go off queen

Yes they do have the same number of goals THIS YEAR, however Zucker has played for a top team and Gallagher for the worst team. The horrible coaching through 40 games MIGHT also have something to do with that as well.

Yes, if we lose first round I don't think any of these players are safe, I wouldn't say anyone except Crosby or Guentzel is. It's insanity if we have another first round exit then run it back again. This gets us a first, second, and third, plus two tougher players, which is what we need.

The issue isn’t that you traded the players. The issue is that you traded them for such a severely underwhelming return simply for overreacting insanity purposes.
A young top 4 RHD with a long term reasonable contract (Marino) alone nets at least a 1st and solid player/prospect.
A young top defenseman prospect with top 4 potential nets at least a late 1st alone. A young middle 6 winger with potential and an absurdly cheap QO should net at minimum a late 2nd/early 3rd. Yet you traded all 3 and only got a 1st in return.

Gallagher’s contract is absolutely terrible and had a terrible year. Why would the pens want to add 1 million in cap and 5 more years in term? They could get a tough player in free agency for free for that and just trade Zucker for a late pick and the cap space.
There is no way in gods green earth would Hextall trade Carter after signing him to an extension. Also wood has been injured all year. Jeff Carter’s value is way more than Wood’s right now and NJ would be insane to trade him at the moment.
The MP trade is the most realistic on here and fairest, not that it is saying much.
Why would Arizona want Dumo? Much less pay for him? You’ve already traded MP, POJ, Marino, now Dumo too? That absolutely decimates the defensive depth. And all you did was replace them with terrible expensive plugs.
And along with the terrible trades, you don’t re-sign Letang, Malkin, or Rust (3 of the like 5 players actually scoring). Letting all 3 of those guys go are just going to disgruntled Crosby so you may as well trade him too at that point and go for the full on rebuild

Yeah his main linemates have been ERod, Kapanen, and Carter lol. He played like 2.5 games with Malkin this season and none on Crosby’s line lol. But nice try.

I love how you just gloss over the last 4 years before this one like they just suddenly don't exist. Gallagher had 4 straight years of putting up 30 goals or being on pace for 30 goals (shortened seasons). Zuckers previous 4 seasons were on pace for 20 ish goals and neither one missed huge chunks of time in due to injury. Zucker played 38 out 56 games last season (18 games missed), 60 out of 69 (9 games missed), 2 seasons before that were 81 and 82 games. Gallagher played 35 out of 56 games (21 games missed), the season before he played 59 out of 71 games (12 games missed) the 2 seasons before that he played all 82 games. So in short Gallagher is the more prolific scorer so yeah he has more value. You realize that Gallagher played with Danault and Tatar most of the time right?! Neither of them were ever in the same league as Crosby or Malkin either, they were more on par with ERod and Kapanen and yet he still put up 30+ goals. So yeah I will still take 5 years of Gallagher over 1 year of Zucker.

Why tho? Gallagher is getting worse every year. He's already over paid (6.5M for 2G 4A in 22GP in a cup run). You can only take so many cross checks in the back before they start to seriously add up. My old man is like the biggest gallagher fan in the world so trust me I understand the love for the guy, but if I was MTL id be running from that contract at full speed.

Well it's like this, Gallagher has struggled this season (his first real struggle in 5 years) but so has the rest of the team, Caufield had 1 goal in 40+ games! In the previous 4 seasons Gallagher was severely underpaid (3.83 Mil) for a 30+ goal scorer, so why shouldn't we allow him one off season and see if he can turn things around next year? Besides that he literally drags the team into the fight even when they shouldn't be in it. His leadership in the room and his willingness to take a beating for the team are irreplaceable. No one else on the team plays the same in your face style as Gally does.

It's a what have you done for me lately business. Danault and Tatar are miles better than ERod. And arguable better than Kapanen; at the very least a hell of a lot more consistent.

Jason Zucker over the last 85 games (his whole time in Pittsburgh, just over 2 seasons)
85 GP 21 G 23 A 44 PTS 2.07 pts/60

Brendan Gallagher over the last 80 games (last 2 seasons)
80 GP 20 G 21 A 41 PTS 2.1 pts/60

So just an FYI over the past 2 or so seasons they have basically the same stats. So if Zucker with 1 year left at 5.5 is bad, then Gallagher at 6.5 for 5 more seasons is god awful. And you basically make it even more in the favor that Zucker is the better contract situation by making the point that as injury prone Zucker has been the last 2 years, Gallagher has been even more injury prone. And with the way Gallagher plays, thats typical and only going to get worse each year.
