Not that i don’t agree with you, but that chart doesn’t say anything to refute his point.

Nashville is in no position to move two firsts.

Gio isn’t signing for league min.

If sandin is a top four d man, why is he signing that?

Thats probably 40% of what marchment would get from a canadian market.

All in all, not a shot.

And this is why those charts are kind of useless for these discussions.

+ L'Heureux, a guy NSH traded up for to draft in the 1st round last year. So a 2021 1st round prospect + two 1st round draft picks -- either way you look at it, I have no interest in that price.

Liljegren leads the Leafs blue-line in both goals-for and expected-goals-for percentage. He has some of the best PK numbers in the NHL.

He leads the Leafs in Corsi-for, Shots-for, Scoring-chances for.

Statistically, he has been the Leafs best defenseman this season.

Comparing him to Tyson Barrie is straight up foolish.

No, these charts are perfect for people saying **** like that

I agree, that’s a bad price, but this is something that this board has to stop doing.

A player is not a draft pick, they are a player. Players values are subjective. Draft picks values are objective.

This is a great example of why they’re useless. You throw that stuff out there, but you know he’s soft. He’s not Tyson Barrie soft, but he’s soft.

When it's less than a year since drafting, I don't have an issue looking at it that way -- because I bet that's how Poile or any GM would be looking at it. And he's having a fantastic season right now, definitely a 1st round talent from last draft. Once people start saying it for a guy draft+2 or more, I agree with you.

Zach senyshyn wasn’t valued at a first round pick 5 seconds after he was drafted.

I don’t know anything about the player. Maybe he’s worth 10 firsts. Players are not picks. Subjective vs objective.

I bet your GM was thinking he was worth that -- that's why he used the draft pick to draft him at that position...

Right, and thats the point. Don Sweeney thought he was of that value. No other GM in the league did. And you know what that illustrates?

Players value is subjective. Draft capital value is objective. See? Players are not picks.

I don't disagree. But I'm commenting from the NSH perspective. And Poile is going to value L'Heureux as a 1st rounder -- so that's going to feel like 3x 1sts from the NSH perspective.

Sure.

But you said the trade was three first rounders.

It’s not.
