Logic:

Option 1.

NYR is in win now. This gives them a huge bump for the next 2 seasons, at serious cost control. All of Paul, Connor Brown and Watson all for CHEAP. 1.8, 1.5, 1.5. Grit, size, 2 way players. These are playoff type players.

Option 2.

NYR wants to delay his big contract, and want to score some pick value. Extend the window they have already forced open.

OTT makes these exact trades with other teams, lets go through some "cash value"

CBrown @ 50% for 2 seasons is worth 2 firsts, 1st++, whatever

Nick Paul @ 1.5M for 3 seasons is worth 1st+, or 2nd/2nd/Prospect

Watson is worth a mid pick. His type has value, adored and cost controlled. Lets not quibble about price. Call it a 4th

Honestly if I were Drury, regardless of production in a limited role thus far. I’d want a cheap young center (under 22 years old) with top 6 upside to consider moving him. That would fill a huge position of need long term both position and cap wise. We’d still have Othmann, Berard and Cuylle so I wouldn’t be concerned about destroying our LW depth.

Quick answer.. NO

They aren’t shopping him but if they did; they would be receiving a big piece back not this. They aren’t going to trade him for five 32OA picks because they are “1sts”, they aren’t going to move him for depth pieces, they would package him and a few other pieces for high end talent. I doubt they would even take pinto and a 1st to be honest. As far as values go, OTT aren’t in the right place to be going for him. Starting a rebuild, then sure.

just because a player was a 1st OA pick does not mean he is worth a kings ransom when his numbers are barely that of a 3rd liner, "limited role" or not, he has not played himself into the top 6. No freaking GM is going to give up top 10 picks or top end prospects for a gamble.

People need to get real about player values on this site.
