Just going through both teams and the only thing I could think of the leafs taking on a guy like Johnson or Murray so the Avs can clear cap. But the leafs still get to upgrade their defence in the process. This situation is only possible tho if muzzin stays on LTIR until playoffs.

And then they have less than half a mill to sign campbell next year

Landy's on LTIR, we have the space to acquire Giroux if we trade someone else at league minimum (MacDermid, Jack Johnson, etc.)

Could move Johnson/Mrazek/Kerfoot at the draft/offseason

*Kerfoots been playing 4th line the past couple weeks. Since Roberston has come up he has no place in the lineup other than 4th line and Pk use.

Engvall isnt a full time 3rd liner and clifford isnt an nhler, neither is woll. So now the team is a lot worse and they have less assets because they traded for a not so great defenser for a few months then traded him away again plus whatever they needed to add to move mrazek.

Why would the leafs help them clear cap space when the Leafs need all the cap they can get as well. The trade doesnt make sense for Toronto and makes their team worse
