Luckily for me, I’m not gonna overvalue Garland. He is honestly only projected to score roughly 10ish more points than Kap is and Kap and Garland have similar stats over the previous 2 seasons with the edge to Garland. He is def worth more than Kap, but not by a ton. The only way a trade between VAN and PIT occurs is if Kapanen is going the other way. Kap+ for Garland is the only common sense answer. Not this Marino stupidity and not this Rodrigues stuff (although Rod may be slightly possible). I know VAN wants a RHD, but they can get that in a Boeser return. If they insist on getting a RHD for Garland then so be it. I’m sure some team out there would pop up that would offer one for him, but moving Marino for anyone on the Canucks roster makes less than 0 sense without getting a RHD back in return. The only top-4 RHD options out there are Manson (no thanks), Severson (NJ isn’t moving him), and Klingberg (acquisition cost too high). Might be a couple more, but I’ve made my point. Luckily the deadline is only 11 days away, so we won’t have to see Boeser/Garland for Marino trades posted 7,291 times a day anymore after that. Gar for Marino could happen in the summer though.
