soon the leafs wouldn't be able to afford mackinnon and is his value really 6.1m or ekblad who has concussion issues along with his mediocre play for his upcoming 7.5m. shades of Brian Burke, spend for today, don't worry about the cap

Ok....so to break this down you are giving up:

- 14 players/prospects
- 8 draft picks

for

- 6 players
- 2 draft picks

First of all.....no....just no. I wouldn't touch Ekblad with a 10 foot pole right now. And that price for Ekblad.....yikes. No deal here. His head injury history at such a young age is definitely keeping me away. There are definitely some better options out there for way less of a risk. And why would you want MacKinnon? Yes hes a great player but he's redundant to what the leafs have. I'd rather have Marner/Matthews/Nylander then Mackinnon and his contract. I would suggest to try again.....you really only need to target D.....our offence is amazing and only getting better.

I'd also be extremely surprised if Brian Campbell signs anywhere else except CHI. He moved his family there and took a pay cut. He won't move anywhere else, let alone to Canada.

Why the "let alone to Canada"?? You do realize that Campbell is a Canadian who was born and raised less than 150 miles from Toronto, right?

The MacKinnon and Ekblad trades a really bad, A deal around Bozak doesn't get you MacKinnon nor does a deal centered around JVR get you Ekblad any one of those trades starts with Kapanen and then look to add one of Nylander/Marner that's what it's going to take.

Wouldn't trade Nylander or Marner straight up for either one of those players let alone adding in Kapp +.
Ekblad was paid way way too early and could turn into a horrible contract with his 4 concussion in like a year and a half.
Mack on the other hand hasn't really shown to be a better player than Nylander or Marner and is paid more/ under control for less time than either.
