im fairly sure its widely accepted that lehkonen = kravtsov
so you're implying that montembeault = georgiev + 2nd

plus with price & allen in between the pipes, georgiev doesnt fit

I haven't seen this combination before, we don't know how much gorton actually values his former project kravtsov, so it migth have a chance but i just don't see the goalie fit for MTL moving forward

Maybe it's widely accepted, but you have to realize, the habs aren't trading Lehkonen for the value of a 2nd.
He's more valuable to us than a kravtsov or a 2nd round pick. Not saying he's worth more, but i guarantee Habs would be glad to keep him if no team offers more.
I'm thinking Habs only trade him for 1st + 3rd.
Georgiev = 3rd + 3rd
Kravtsov = 2nd
2nd

2nd + 2nd + 3rd + 3rd is more than a 1st + 3rd.
Montembeault = 3rd.
3rds cancel each other.
2md + 2nd + 3rd = close to 1st + 3rd.
That's the value Habs woudl trade Lehkonen for.
We have zero obligation to trade him, habs have control of him since he's RFA. He's a coaches dream. I rather keep him than getting Vitali Kravstov thank you very much, even if it's the "accepted value"

Goalie for future?
But, I'd really like a samsonov + 2nd + hughes for lehkonen + Montembeault
Samsonov has more potential than georgiev

Doesn’t seem overly unrealistic. Maybe NYR gives up a lower pick

I dont think thats the kind of trade the habs would be looking for.

Really of all the rangers prospects who are somewhat reasonably on the table (so no kakko laf schneider othmann cuyle) Lundqvist is the only one of real interest for the habs. The habs have a boatload of LD and wingers. If they trade lehkonen they either need a higher pick or someone who addresses a organizational need.

Maybe guys like skinner or garand provided they are more of a secondary piece than the actual return.

I know I have had lots of issues with your trades before, but yeah this one doesn’t seem too bad.

Not NYR adding another pick but sending maybe a 3rd or 4th instead of the 2nd

I'm thinking maybe a condition, if kravtsov signs and plays certain amount of games, 2nd turns into 3rd.

Kravtsov would be nice, we need a goalie for the future, maybe we can gamble on georgiev being that.
But I agree regarding lundqvist.

I think its easier to sell Lehkonen to a Team in need for a premium
Then just buy Kravatsov for a 2nd at most

Shuffling goaltenders is pretty pointless unless Montreal is selling Price or Allen.
Montembault isn't really a viable backup for a contender. No shade intended, he's just not reliable or consistent enough. He still needs reps, which he has been fortunate to get a lot of in Montreal. If he were on any other team he would have been in the minors before managing to put together this recent stretch of games.
Georgiev isn't worth pursuing. Better off giving Primeau more starts under the new coach next season.

Lehkonen for Kravtsov has always been considered fair enough value wise. I think a conditional pick is in order to ensure Kravtsov actually plays in NA next season, but given the situation with hockey overseas, it's likely a low risk precaution.

Of course Lundkvist would be preferred due to positional need.

Nor are the rangers overpaying for a player just because you think they are worth twice their real value. If you won't take the 2nd, then keep him. Nobody will be paying the absurd price of this package.

I like this trade as a Habs fan. Unlike others on here I don’t believe Price will ever play again. And if he does, they can move Allen.

I know we have Primeau but he showed this year he needs at least a couple years before he is ready for the NHL full time.

Exactly.
Price probably doesn't come back, if does, allen is traded, as teams would be interested

Georgiev is 26 its not like hes super young and has yet to show anything to suggest he can be a real starter. When you combine his AHL and NHL numbers over the last 5 years its pretty meh. The habs would probably be better served going with the much cheaper montembeault and picking up a more established option in free agency in a few years.

Kravstov i dont care about at all. He is tall but is soft as butter and doesnt play a 2 way game at the minimum level required for the NHL. He clearly doesnt take direction very well given whats happened as well. Throwing a late 3rd or 4th to get him is one thing but as a cornerstone of a lehkonen trade is a hard pass.

4th round pick
Lehkonen to WSH
For
Maass's expiring NCAA rights(RD who might make the jump to NHL)
1st round pick in 2023

Kravatsov offer a 2nd for
Unlees they'll take Kulak and a 4th
If Reilly can leave the role Kulak took on and find success on 2 NHL teams
I feel Kulak who i find is a better player will thrive outside MTL
That said i expect they take the 2nd

Kravatsov is no Lehkonen as far as being a 200ft player
But he's far from a liability and is where you'd expect for a 22 year old who's played 6 seasons in the KHL,1 AHL & 1 NHL season
He never should have came over before his 23rd or 24th birthday like Panarin,Kaprisov or Lyubushkin
Not everyone can make that jump right away
Point is i think under MSL he will thrive as he leans into players strengths
While developing their weakness's into strengths over time
(Caufield didnt get no time in the DZ at first under MSL earnng every shift back he lost)
