Also he’s a 29 year old elite first line talent who can play wing or centre, kills penalties, great on the pp, hasn’t had injury problems, and has great leadership qualities. Teams have to really pay up if they want that kind of talent especially since he has another year left on his deal.

McDavid, MacKinnon, Matthews, Draisitl, Kucherov, Crosby, Barkov, Huberdeau, Rantanen, Marner, Pasternak, Marchand, Panarin, Kaprisov, Stone are 15 guys off the top of my head that are all better than Miller. JT Miller is a good player, but he’s overrated according to analytics and even more by Canuck’s fans. Byram has the upside to be a top 20 defensemen in the league for years to come and that just isn’t an asset you give away without getting a player who you absolutely love which I’m guessing isn’t Miller given how analytically driven the Avs are
