Description
Seattle would have probably taken Kerfoot. And McCann is 2 years younger. Still just 25. Turns 26 in May.

Wow was that a botch.

No they would have taken Holl, because we wouldn't have been able to protect him. Why do you think both kerfoot and McCann were both left unprotected?

Or Dermott, depending if they wanted to go via youth.

They selected a ton of D-men. Seattle was/are short on Centers. They left McCann and Kerfoot unprotected b/c they knew they would take one and leave the other. And they could protected a D-man then too. But if they protected McCann and left Holl and Kerfoot unprotected; I think Seattle takes Kerfoot.

If they protect mccann over holl they go 7-3 instead of 8 total and protect kerfoot and another forward.

This is some 20/20 hindsight but thats not really very relevant. Look as this team if Holl is gone....then take off Luybushkin too who was acquired during the season. Suddenly its a disaster. You will say they could have acquired a replacement but then you'll have to consider what the RHD market was like in the summer. Basically its nice to look back with hindsight but that doesn't reflect the situation they were in at the time.

This is such a tired nonsense troll job. McCann doesn't matter, he is scoring a lot of McCann has 21 even strength points while being a top option for his team. Kerfoot has 35 even strength points. What's the point of that? None of this remotely matters. McCann is nothing special, he's nothing more than Kerfoot. TO was fine with either guy being taken because it didn't matter one way or another. They picked up him for 7th round pick and proceeded to lose no one of their roster who mattered. If McCann was on the Leafs there is no telling where he would even play. Trolls on here like to assume he would he scoring major points in the top 6 but he may have not formed any chemistry with either the top 2 lines. If that was the case we'd be sitting here saying "too bad we don't still have Kerfoot, we know he played well with JT and Nylander at least. " Or we would be saying, "geez we really could use one of Dermott or Holl right now because Biega and Dahlstrom being the 6/7 defenceman is horrible".

But let's build statutes for average middle 6 wingers because they are the real MVP's

Don't like Holl? OK. But fact is he plays 20 minutes a night, hard minutes, on a good team with good GAA. So let's go back to October....do the Leafs want to go with one less Dman and Brodie, Liljegren and Dermot on the right side?
By the way.....while Holl gets a lot of blame...let's look at his partner for most of the season Muzzin. He's been the Leafs worse Dman this situation and has put Holl in a lot of bad situations this season.

I know. Imagine McCann with AustinMatthews/Marner or even JT/Nylander. He’s on a line with Jarnkrok/Eberle inSeattle. Not great. Jankrok is a 3rd line Center on a contending/play-off team(at best). McCann is a really good 200-foot player and has great underlying numbers too.

He’s still just 25 years old. Had 19 goals and 35 points in2018. Had 14 goals and 35 points in 2019. Had 14 goals and 32 points in just 43 games in 2020(.74PPG). And 21 goals and 33 points so far this season in 48 games.

Been playing in the NHL since 19 years old. He was the 24th pick overall. I bet every NHL team hopes the 24th pick earns a roster spot at 19 and never looks back.

Ya, Sure thing. Don’t know why anyone would want a 25 year old 20 goal scorer that plays a really good 200 foot game too. Dubas’s makes tons of mis-steps.

And remember when Florida wanted to trade Weegar for Dermott and AndreasJohnsson and Dubas’s rejected it.. how, huge mid-step.

I do love watching Leafs fans panicking though. And you get to watch it 2-3 every year too..lol.

Leafs gonna trade 1st round pick, probably Abruzzese and still get knocked out in the 1st round. Leafs are only gonna go as far as Campbell or Mrazek take them.

But Dubas’s will trade assets to try and get out of that 1st round and still won’t.

And with Muzzin on LTIR, they are gonna take on salary and term in trades. And then when he comes back and especially in the offseason they are gonna be really cap strapped and have to move draft picks just to move contracts; just like TB.

Gonna be a mess in the offseason then too. Better hope he trades for players on expiring contracts.

McCann getting picked by Seattle didn't matter. The Leafs picked him for a 7th and a prospect that doesn't matter. So they essentially kept their roster intact for a 7th. All good. McCann doesn't matter, didn't matter that much to Pittsburgh either since they are better this year than last. So it doesn't matter. This post is from a pens fan to chirp leaf fans. The 1st round exit comment cements it. Just a lazy troll job
