Habs 2022 TDL Take 2

Description
Explanation of my logic:

Trade 1: Habs finish in bottom 10, pick is protected and comes back to the team.
Trade 2: Seems to be the generally accepted value for Chiarot. Habs retain half the salary and get a late first round pick. Very similar to what the Bolts did last year for Savard.
Trade 3: I think we could get something for Paquette as a depth player somewhere, maybe it's just future considerations. Worst case he doesn't go anywhere and we retain him.
Trade 4: This one is a bit more complicated. I think the ground work is there for this deal, but not sure the value is correct. I think LA could use scoring help from Hoffman and depth with Armia. Kulak is just a less expensive replacement for Matta to help with cap space. I know Turcotte has a lot value so maybe Habs need to add a bit more here. Curious on the community thoughts.
Trade 5: Helps Florida make a playoff push with some inexpensive depth adds
Trade 6: Same as above, depth addition for playoff push

Hoffman is worth at most a third, Armia at most a fourth and Kulak at most a fifth, inasmuch as they're all unwanted useless mouths, so that entire package doesn't get you Turcotte, but more to the point, none of the three of them is anyone we'd be interested in. Los Angeles wonders why you bothered making the offer.

Just my thoughts, but:
1) Obviously
2) It's only generally accepted among Habs fans. Some dummy might do it, but he's absolutely not worth a 1st unless the Habs are taken a mediocre contract back.
3) Meh, whatever.
4) There isn't a single piece in that trade that should convince LA to move Turcotte.
5) If AA was worth a 2nd+Prospect, why wouldn't LA just do it?
6) Perreault for a 3rd seems like a stretch. In 2013, when he was still productive, he was moved for a 4th and a player that was then non-tendered. He's a 4th liner that *might* get a late pick back.

I think your values are a bit low for all the players, but I understand your point of view and response. I'm also curious about Tyler Madden, is he a player that might be moved given the amount of center prospect depth LA has? How does this trade look with him instead? Is he expected to a top 6 forward?

Thanks,

G

Thanks for the feedback.

2) I think a Chiarot deal along those lines will happen for a team looking to make a playoff push, but we will have to wait a see.
3) Agreed lol
4) I understand LA trade made be not enough value, responded to original comment on potential changes
5) Retention on salary and addition of depth d is why I thought this could work, maybe it's a lower pick but I think it's decent value.
6) You are probably right, I guess the hope is the value is higher at TDL due to his really small cap hit and retention.

Thanks!

Kulak is a bottom-pairing UFA defenseman, so if anyone pays what, for example, Los Angeles paid for Brendan Lemieux (who had term) or Anaheim paid for Nic DesLauriers (who had term), he's nuts.

Armia has been enormously unproductive this season and his cap hit is high for a bottom-6 forward.

Hoffman is a one-dimensional player and hasn't been good this year at that.

Now as to your real question:

Here's how our team is shaping up for next season, at this early stage and without, of course, changes that might be made at the trade deadline:

Iafallo - Kopitar - Kempe
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson
Grundstrom - Byfield - Vilardi (if Dustin Brown doesn't re-sign)
Lemieux - Lizotte - Kaliyev

I can see the slight possibility of Iafallo or Kempe being moved for a high-quality #1 LD, but only if one is available.

So that leaves Turcotte and Kupari as the most likely extras. (All this, of course, subject to change!)

In short, Turcotte, Kupari, Madden and Thomas are all possible trade elements, of different value, of course. (My understanding is that the coaching staff believes that Madden has a middle-6 future in the NHL.)

I haven’t followed the LA prospects at all, but wasn’t turcotte taken fifth overall a couple years ago? Why would they want to move him and what’s his value even?
