2 A level prospects, a 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounder and they decline? What would you add to that package to make it happen? Auston Matthews?
I don’t think even adding Matthews would make that happen. Matthews is worth a lot, and while having someone like Matthews on their roster could draw players there, who would be willing to play for Arizona when they could play for Colorado, Carolina, Tampa, or Florida? Besides, I don’t even think that the package proposed would even get you Chychrun. Mrazek would be a cap dump, and for the sake of argument it would cost a 2nd and 3rd round pick, albeit likely more than that. Then you have Niemela, Robertson, and a first. Arizona wants 4 (at least) first round equivalents. No matter how high you value those prospects, neither of them are worth 2 firsts, so Arizona would turn that down right there. Then you want to add on Crouse and Vejmelka, 2 pending RFAs that the Yotes should resign.
Plus, just looking at the playing history of Mrazek, he would be a terrible fit for Arizona. Arizona doesn’t have a dcore like the one Carolina had, so the lack of success he had in Detroit and now in Toronto would just continue. They know that, so they won’t acquire him without being payed heavily to do so. Plus, Mrazek also has a NTC in his contract, and when he decides on his teams he doesn’t want to be traded to, I am willing to bet Arizona would be on that list.
