Carolina doesn't do this for a couple reasons. 1) KK will very likely be our 2C next year, so shipping him away is not an option. 2) If you have noticed, the Canes don't really deal with rentals very often. If the Canes were to make a trade, it would likely be for someone with a little bit of term on their contract. Both Getzlaf and Lindholm are rentals. Canes would have no need for Getzlaf as their center core is already flushed out, and he doesn't beat out Trocheck or Staal, and unless Lindholm will resign for cheap, Canes wont be able to afford him next year. Getzlaf also probably retires next year, so why invest in him? Canes will also sign KK to an extension at a cheaper cap hit than his QO. For Eric Staal, I do think that he will sign a contract with the Canes, but to retire.

Easy no from Carolina. KK is just not being traded right now. He's one of the reasons the Canes C core is so strong. They don't need Lindholm or Getzlaf that bad.
