Reports say Guerin isn't interested in moving his 1st or his better prospects, so this isn't likely.

We aren't interested in trading calen addison for a rental. Our gm has no interest in trading 1st round picks. Also our beat writer has brought up Minnesota not being interested in Claude because they question him playing C. There's a reason Claude has been more successful on wing than C

Don't know what Dater reported, the report I saw was Giroux saying Colorado was his preferred destination, with Minnesota and St. Louis being acceptable to him if Colorado doesn't work out. Don't think it's ever been reported that Minnesota has had any significant interest in Giroux (or any rental, for that matter), and Russo did make a point to say he doesn't think MIN 1st or their better prospects are on the table.

Dater , who is a disgraced avs beat writer who lost his credentials to the team and has 0 team sources now made the claim that Avs were Girouxs top choice but he also is high on Minny and St Louis. Russo qoute tweeted that and said that Flyers and Giroux sources say that is not true.

Are we going to pretend that none of Giroux's career before the 19-20 season happened?

Addison and MN's 1st are nowhere near untouchable. Untouchable would be Rossi, Boldy and Wallstedt.

Nothing brings Avs and WIld fans together like hating on Adrian Dater

Those are Russo's words. So, depending on how much stock you put into his reporting...

Apparently Guerin doesn't have any intention of trading 1st round pick or prospects like calen addison for rentals. As for Claude, the coaching staff and specifically analytics team according have done their work on Claude, and come to conclusion he's more a fit at winger than C

Not a whole lot anymore. He's good for game day and recaps. For team future stuff I think he's lost all his higher up connections. His scorched earth campaign against Fenton and the last of Fletchers guys moving on have made it able for Guerin to keep him out of the loop. He's more talking head now than a team/beat reporter.

He and Guerin have a great relationship, and while I don't think Guerin tells him every plan in detail, I don't think he's being completely shut out because I doubt Guerin and his team care about how he "treated" past GMs and their teams.

If Russo reports that he gets the idea that the Wild aren't looking for high end rentals, and they're not looking to part with picks and prospects like Addison and the 1st, I would tend to believe him, considering the latter half is exactly what Guerin has been saying himself for the last couple of years. he made it very clear he wasn't going to trade or sacrifice futures for short term fixes.

I just don't take that at face value and take it as gospel. I'll agree that Guerin probably doesn't want to trade a 1st or some prospects, but when push comes to shove and the 1st or the prospect is what it takes to get a deal done then the lines get a lot more blurry (or is it blurrier).

I also think Addison is a lot more available just due to some comments from the coaching staff/GM about his call-ups (or lack of) this year. He's a Spurgeon replacement and that's it. Short of a buyout Spurgeon isn't going anywhere for a long time. I don't think this small d-corps plan is working the way they wanted it to. It's why they keep putting Benn in the lineup over Addison.

I'm not taking what Russo says as gospel either, but when Russo is saying something that echoes what Guerin has been saying for years, and what he's been showing through his actions (unwillingness to part with prospects and picks), I'm not going to sit here and claim that when push comes to shove, Guerin will trade Addison and a 1st for Giroux or Hertl or Miller or whatever name you want to insert.

That's not to say they're untouchable. I'm sure when Guerin was looking at PLD he was considering trading picks and prospects. We know he was considering it when looking at Eichel. So yeah, the picks and prospects aren't untouchable, but it IS pretty clear at this point that he's not going to trade those types of pieces for short term bandaids like Giroux.

I think the Minnesota and STL interest was floated into the media by the Flyers to try and gain a little more leverage. If it is known that Giroux says Colorado and only Colorado, they lose a lot of bargaining leverage. So putting it out there that two of the Avs biggest division rivals are also in the mix helps their position. And I can back that up with absolutely nothing, but it seems like something an NHL GM would do to try and get a better deal.
