Don’t really like the Canucks deal…Rathbone will be a good NHLer when he gets his defence up to par

Strange part of the oilers trade that could be biggest hurdle is involving kosk right now I don’t see Edmonton prepared enough to count on smiths health but if he stays healthy till deadline some of those concerns might soften and allow a deal like this to take place.

If VAN makes the Miller/Lundvist trade i can see them moving him since they wont want 3 pairs of D with undersized offensive defenseman on them. Not sure this would be the trade i would make for him though.

Highly doubt Edmonton would be willing to part with a quickly on the rise current Top 5 prospect in Savoie(Troy Terry type trajectory) plus a 1st for Graves, knowing the Devils gave up a couple mid round picks to acquire him, I get the Koskinen add would be the difference, but I am not sold Edmonton is willing to part with him unless they get another solid backup who is significantly cheaper than he is, but similar results to keep in the mix with Skinner and their current No 1 Mike Smith-who is veyr injury prone... So I am not necessarily sold that Koskinen is added to a deal unless they are also getting a suitable replacement, or better than Smith goalie...

I don't really like the Caps team. Iorio has great potential and is our best RHD prospect. I don't really want (or like) PK for the Caps. But others probably feel differently.

Man, I like PK Subban as a player but I think that's a massive overpay. I think you could do Schultz & a 2nd for PK with 50% retention for the rest of the year and call it a good deal for both sides, if Washington thinks Subban upgrades them over Schultz. Iorio is already one of Washington's top D prospects, which is important when you realize every defenseman on their roster not named Martin Feheravry is 30+.

If you even want to get down into the nitty gritty on it, shipping out Subban with 50% retention and taking back Schultz would still actually save Jersey money. Right now they owe Subban about $3.23M in salary the rest of the way; half retention on that would cost them $1.615M. Schultz is owed $1.48M the rest of the way, so they'd wind up paying out $3.095M the rest of the way and save about $135K, plus get a 2nd round pick!

Subban’s bonus is paid, so he has less than $1m remaining on his deal (in actual $). I don’t think $ would be a factor as much as adding a piece for future.

Hard to use Devils deal for Graves (Maltsev and 2nd) as a baseline as it was a expansion draft maneuver for Colorado, so we got him fairly cheap.

I liked this deal since it checked two boxes for us (1) our near-term need for a goalie and (2) adding young pieces that will develop in Jack/Nico era (latter being the focus of our GM this deadline). But I think it only works if Oilers land another goalie at deadline.

Even better! You're right, I just got lost in the weeds on that one and had fun figuring out the money. I think it's a solid deal for both sides - Subban will at least replicate the offense Schultz is giving the Caps while playing with a little more of an edge. Plus, PK is starting to venture into "old guy chasing a Cup" range, and I'd like to see him get the chance at least.

Ohh- I am not opposed to acquiring Graves, and maybe paying a bit more to get him, but, he only has 1 year left on his deal, therefore not making him 1st round worthy plus the higher end prospect, even if it does unload Koskinen's deal w/ Kemp.... Maybe Kemp, Koskinen, plus a couple middle round picks for Graves, or maybe if they give a higher pick they receive a mid round pick in return. Would love nothing more than to bring in Graves, but I wouldn't pay that steep of a price, when the primary need is Goaltending...

I wouldn’t take Lundkvist for Miller, Rathbone is already better than Lundkvist.

Zac Jones is going to be better than all of them. So strange that Ranger fans view Lundkvist > Jones.
