Description

Really just bored and wanted to see what the lineup would look like.

I would like to keep vrana, zadina, and Fabbri but only makes sense if we have 3 quality centers. I think the Guelf line has such good chemistry that we can have 2 other real good lines. Giroux and vrana could be a great linemates to introduce berggren into the league as well.

Not sure what goligoski’s expectations are this summer but we have the cap space if he ain’t lookin for term either. Just needed someone to fill the spot

I'd be worried about Giroux thinking it's his team. I don't want Larkin's leadership undermined. I don't believe Giroux would have any interest signing with Detroit anyway. He'll sign with a Cup contender.

Coming from a Flyers fan who's been following his situation closely, the "Giroux to Ottawa" thing is a sort of bizarre and incorrect rumor. He didn't even grow up particularly close to Ottawa, he grew up like 8 hours away

He hasn't. To this day I have no idea why people think he's going to Ottawa

If he doesn't re-sign in Philly (which I still think is most likely), Ottawa seems as good a spot as any for him. They're a team on the rise, and it's a place he already loves.

Based on everything we know about Giroux as a player and as a person, I'd bet he'd be significantly more likely to take a discount to play for a contender than to play in Ottawa. He is crazy competitive and made it very clear his main objective is winning a Cup.

Given Philly's reputation for taking care of players and their families, I think if he'd be more interested in choosing a team via lifestyle that he would leave Philly at all.

You are right I heard E.J. Hradek and Elliotte Friedman talking about it on The NHL Network. When Hradek mentioned he heard Giroux would like to finish out his career in Ottawa Friedman agreed.

Either way, there's certainly plenty of smoke around the whole situation. That said, I'm not gonna get my hopes up yet. I still think he stays where he is, though if he ends up moved at the deadline it's a different story.
