I like Monahan, but I assume this would be because Tarasenko demanded a trade?

Yup, STL gets a bit of cap relief, add to their center depth, get a 2nd rounder and if Monahan doesn’t bounce back he’s only signed for next year so wouldn’t be a big deal if it doesn’t work out. But imo he’s a guy that could fit very well under Berube’s system.

All this for a guy who doesn’t wanna be there anymore and has a 7,5mil cap hit, which to be fair is pretty hard for any team to take on even tho he’s a point per game atm.

Imo it’s a win win swap that works for both teams, but the values could still be tweaked around.

1- The Blues do not need a center, let alone one year of a wildly overpaid one whose play fell off a cliff three years ago. Hard pass for every reason one can think of.

2- You are living way in the past, bud.

3- It's super not. It's highway robbery.

And then throw the whole idea in the trash, because it's still horrible for the Blues.

How is it horrible for Blues? This lineup looks good to me, Perron, Monahan, Saad would be a very good defensive 3rd line to match with oppositions top lines.

Setting aside that O'Reilly's line matches up with top lines, most often with Perron as his sidekick, who trades their star top scorer face of the franchise for a "3C"? And I already explained at length several reasons why.

Funny how drastically opinions change when a player bounces back, but yeah I guess it’s fair enough takes if you still see Tarasenko as face of the franchise.

Tarasenko is a PPG this season. Monahan is lost in his own sauce. Why are the blues downgrading. If you have read the recent reports both the blues and Tarasenko think that a offseason trade would be the best outcome. Horrible trade for the blues

Just for the record, my opinion never changed one bit. I had full faith he'd rebound to the norm this season, and said this countless times. But thanks for taking my comment on board.

wrong. He kind of changed his mind a bit when we had the russian line put together you would know that if you watched Blues games.
He's regained his value based on this season. Monahan plays way lower in minutes isn't even useful for the Blues. Basically giving Flames a hand out no thanks

That's because you are listening to fair weather fans. Most of us that have been watching this team for more than 1 decade are all in on Tarasanko. We're ok if he gets moved after the season for a legit return but we'd still rather he retire in the jersey than anything else. The main reason why Tarasanko was exposed was we saw a lot of equivalent attributes in Dunn. A superstar with great talent but Dunn is younger and didn't ask for a trade. It worked out for us the way the dirhard fans wanted it. Regardless, if you want tarasanko, think about saying goodbye to Johnny or Tkachuk

Appreciate the premise but I think an owner would view this as poor asset management. Swapping a 30-40 goal scorer for a 2nd/3rd C and moving up to mid-to-late second round of the draft doesn't hold up.

Elite goal scorers almost never get traded.

Reinhart was traded for a conditional first and top prospect (never topped 30 goals)
Laine + went for a former 3rd overall C in Dubois who hit 27 goals, 62 points 2 years before.
Hall when he was scoring more went for 3 top prospects, a 1st and 3rd.

Tarsenko must be worth Monahan, 1-2 top prospects and a first (if signing longer term)
