Tomas h is a rental. He's not getting a 1st and borderline A prospect like Marat Khusnutdinov much less Minnesota adding a 2nd additional. Toronto overpaying for rentals and Tampa can't be used as fair comparisons

I dunno, it's not that far off what Duchene got as a rental and he's probably the closest comp. And this is with half retention on Hertl. I'd rather pay a bit more and get Miller, but this seems in the ballpark for value (though I'd suggest the 2nd be a 3rd with condition of being a higher pick based on what happens in the playoffs).

Hertl is an overpay bc he's a rental. Holtz is absolutely untouchable for NJ, and in what world is Barabonov worth anything more than like a 5th round pick

It is pretty far off though. Khusnutdinov is an A lvl prospect. Abramov is just ok Davidsson is irrelevent. The firsts wash out and adding a second to Khusnutdinov + the first makes it insane for just a rental

Make the 2nd in the Devils trade a 1st and the sharks might consider. Sharks might ask for more from Tampa too

Forgot the second 1st round pick in that deal was conditional on an extension. Was thinking it was two 1sts along with Abramov and Davidsson as a rental, but it wasn't.

The current world where he is a top 6 winger on a $1 mil contract and is scoring at a .60 ppg pace .

I think it’s funny how whenever there is a “bad” trade that would suggest a player gets a greater return it can’t be used and a comparable but a bad trade that returns too little is a good comparable.

No one is saying to make a bad trade, but no one is overpaying for a rental. Our gm has also made it clear he's not parting with top prospects for a rental. He's also very much against rentals which is why rumors are he's looking into more of a depth move

Then they aren’t getting Hertl. You have to give up quality to get quality every time. Mark stone got a 2nd and Branstrom who was considered to be a top 25 prospect in the league at the time. Khusnutdinov is not considered to be that high of a prospect so it’s really not a bad trade

Marat Khusnutdinov may not be a top prospect to you but he was to Minnesota and one of the best scout in the NHL in judd brackett who got our gm to trade Luke kunin to select him, so yes, he's very much a top prospect

You guys easily have 2 or 3 prospects that are better in your system, he isn’t a top 25 prospect in the league. He is a good prospect and would fit needs for the sharks. that’s why they would be interested in this trade

He's our top c prospect right behind Rossi. I mean sharks fans could be interested, but we aren't going to be one paying a 1st and A prospect for a rental

That’s fine, I don’t think you guys necessarily need him anyway with JEE and Rossi. 1C Hartman will certainly bring the cup to minny

Can't see the Oilers giving a 1st for Reimer. A 2nd and either retention on Koskinen or a sweetener to eat the salary difference for 1/4 of a season likely gets it done.

Like they talked about on broadcast last night, Minnesota doesn't need a 1c like that because it means kaprizov and Zuccarello won't have the puck as much.. so yes, we are fine with Hartman and our depth.

That’s totally fine, they want to continue to get bounced in the 1st round then they are setting themselves up perfectly

Yeah because this is the wild of old according to you because you can't accept Minnesota wouldn't want to do this deal, so you have to go with being disrespectful towards wild. Ironic

No, you aren't being honest. It's called trying to incite a negative reaction. Like you don't know anything about the wild, but hanging on to the past

I actually really like the wild and other than their cap situation really like what they are doing. I just don’t see much high end talent on the team. If they truly are trying to get a cup and you look at other teams in the league the wild have significantly less high end talent. Tampa, Florida, Carolina, Boston, Toronto, NYR, Pittsburgh, Colorado, Vegas, probably Edmonton and St Louis too all have more talent and would beat the wild in a series.

Not him but that's a ridiculously high price to pay for something that's not really a need for the Devils.
Meier's great and has played well above what I expected from him this season, but I think Holtz is gonna be just as good in a year or two.
Besides, Devils are really good on winger prospects, the depth in that department is rather insane.
Also, Holtz and our other prospects fit the timeline much better than Meier. Meier might be past his peak when Devils are ready to contend (in like 2-3 yrs).
