The Hoffman/Zucker trade has been proposed regularly on here, both by Pens and Habs fans and I honestly don't know where I stand on it. Neither player is currently worth their contracts because of scoring issues which is a little more troublesome for Hoffman since he's basically just a sniper.

Zucker isn't scoring, but he's playing VERY good hockey on both ends of the ice and next year is the last year of his contract whereas Hoffman has two more years. IMO, as the saying goes, "the devil you know," I'd rather hold on to Zucker because with one year left, the Pens probably have less painful options of getting out of his contract than they do now.

It's totally possible Hoffman simply needs to play higher end talent to get him the puck, but financially the Pens really aren't in the position to gamble and Hoffman is a bit of a gamble right now.

So if the decision were up to me, I'd pass.

hopefully this stops the Price trade nonesense for a while. Price needs to get healthy first and be able to play, if hes a coin flip from forced retirement, this should temper the trade talks and the king ransom returns....probably wont but thats the dream

Because Hoffman's contract is currently worse for the same production and Zucker is a better all-around hockey player. If anything, MTL should be the one to add because of Hoffman's contract.

if im the rangers i dont do that trade. at the very least habs should be taking back nemeth.

I dunno. I think this is pretty fair. A major need for the Rangers, at least IMO, is upgrades to the bottom six and Lehkonen delivers that. The rangers are one of the worst teams in the NHL 5v5 and a big part of that is how badly their bottom six is getting caved in, so this seems like a win/win.

you don't need to trade high end upside to get a better bottom six player. especially another lefty

Sometimes players like Lehkonen Coleman are more valuable than players like Hall
