Description
We pick up Nemec the best player in the draft in the top 3 and this is our lineup for next season.

Much younger and less sufferable to watch while we tank for Bedard.

I feel like you can get more for Drouin from a team like Nashville — a younger team in contention. Besides, I don’t feel like Anaheim makes that deal.

Why would Habs fans like this?

Rangers trade needs to be a 1st, not a 2nd and Habs don't send a pick back.

Don't think Anaheim bites on that trade unless they're certain they're going to the playoffs and even then Drouin is likely getting a pick back not a roster player.

Petry is an off season trade so we can retain money and get a better deal.

Toffoli likely gets a better return, probably on draft day.

Why are we paying someone to take Armia? They'll need contracts and bodies to play moving forward

You're living in the past my friend... Petry and Armia are finished hockey players on bad contracts. We must get them out immediately before they're immovable.

A first and second for Toffoli is peak value.

Goodluck getting a first and kravstov for that package.

If we're buying at the trade deadline, we'll give you a 2023 second for Drouin with 50% retention.

Wow talk about being mad guys aren't preforming lol

That's not peak value for Toffoli, a first and a good prospect is far more likely and better value.

Chairot = first round pick. Lehkonen = Kratzov. No third rounder needed.

And you don’t watch games
Petry didn’t decline, is he slower ? No
Does the PP suck because of the coaching staff ? Yes
Is he the same player doing turnovers ? Yes
Petry isn’t perfect, he got a down year but he isn’t washed up
Replace Ducharme & Burrows and MTL would be way better

And how many where good set up goals ?
The Dvorak one against Dallas
The others are just broken play and it ends up in the net
We can barely set up the PP because we can’t get a decent entry zone

Really?

He's only signed for one more season, on a terrible team he's still scoring at the rate of 0.6 PPG, which only 6 of our forwards (including Henrique and The Captain) are doing, and if he's still playing at a reasonable level and not injured at the trade deadline, he might be a good investment. Note that there are two "ifs" there.

I wouldn't trade Comtois for him even if the second involved were Montreal's 2022, which is likely to be #34 or better.

I've watched every game since I was old enough to understand the game. Petry has always been terrible on the power play, now his random wrist shots from the point aren't hitting the back of the net. He's a turnover machine at even strength and powerplay. Paying the 34 year old 6.2 million for the next 4 years is going to be a disaster. I wanted him gone at the 2020 deadline when people thought he was good. Now were stuck shipping him off for cheap right now or having to suffer his contract for the rest of this rebuild.

1st trade - Montreal rejects. I feel like they could get Kravtsov for Lehkonen straight up. NYR aren't in a position of power here IMO. Kravtsov has made is publically clear he won't play in NYR (he went back to KHL because he doesn't want to play there). Lehkonen is an RFA so Montreal doesn't have to trade him. I think Montreal would consider Kravtsov + 2nd for Chiarot if that interests you. I think Kravtsov at this point is worth a 2nd IMO, so that would mean 2 2nds for Chiarot which is fair.

2nd Trade - I don't think Anaheim would have interest in this trade, and Montreal would be crazy not to accept it.

3rd Trade - Montreal rejects. Petry is worth more at this point to be a leader than that terrible package. Any trade with Petry starts with a 1st, otherwise we keep him.

4th Trade - I'm not sure why we are dumping Hoffman. He's a player who will thrive in an offensive system (like Hughes wants). It's not his fault he's a pure offensive player playing in a pure defensive system.

5th Trade - Fair value for Toffoli, I don't think Montreal wants to trade him though

6th Trade - At this point, I would probably do this deal, although I don't think Montreal should be dumping salary at this moment.

Thanks for being rational with your reasonings for each trade. I agree with a lot that you said, however I don't think Petry is a leader for this team. Having veterans who make big money just to show up to the rink everyday and put on terrible performances isn't a good example for young players in the system; Drouin and Hoffman are another in the same boat as Petry. Guys like Suzuki, Gallagher, Anderson are players who make big money and show up to play every night.
