Chychrun part 2

Description
Rumors continue to swirl. The latest 32TP had 6 teams mentioned (ANA, LAK, STL, CBJ, FLA and NYR). Also, an asking price wayyy too high was presented (Lundell, Knight and 1st), but probably gives a good indication of what we are looking for. That's why these asks may seem very steep, but I'm under the impression that's what it would take from the different teams.

The trades not taking contracts back could also do that. I'm just not sure which players it'd be. Feel free to help me out.

I'd believe both Lundell and Knight are off the table from Florida. I wouldn't give up either for Chychrun one for one

If Arz is getting Neighbours, either Perunovich or Hofer is out for maybe Dickinson or another mid tier prospect. If it's Bolduc instead of Neighbours the rest of the package works with me.

Coyotes wouldn't get Knight in return.

And the Ducks don't do it either. Why are they essentially giving up a 1st more than Columbus?

I understand not giving up Lundell. He is very good and contributing right now. There is no deal without Knight, though, so if FLA are serious about Chychrun he will have to be included. I still don't like having a goalie as the centerpiece, but he is really good and therefore I get why you wouldn't want to trade him. But, as I said, don't see it working out otherwise.

I think that is fair. I hope we can squeeze out my idea, but I can see it being a little bit too much. Thanks for your input!

As I also said above, by leaving Lundell out of it, a deal only works with him included. To get you have to give. The price is set and will most likely be met. If FLA really want him this is a fair price.

As I wrote in the details, the CBJ deal is only a base. It needs a third asset. I just don't know what that would be.

I am sceptical about ANA and their interest. It makes a little bit of sense to trade for Chychrun, but probably more not to. This is just a price evaluation. McTavish is most likely not available (something Friedman also said), but without him this is something along the lines of what you're looking at.

Yeah, I suppose they'd just look for a dman elsewhere then. The market for defensemen is a buyer's market right now, so I don't get why the prices are so inflated. Instead of Chychrun, they can get someone like Giordano, Leddy or Klingberg. Or Lindholm, if the Ducks continue to trend down

Certainly a lot of good options available. I just think Chychrun makes a lot of sense now and long-term. He is also a local boy and his father works there. I'd argue it's worth paying a premium considering the current season and the team Florida have, but if the price isn't met it isn't happening. Someone like Lindholm is a good option that isn't going to be as expensive.

Remember that Buffalo's ask initially for Eichel was something along the lines of 4 1sts and up to 6 total pieces. They got 3 "firsts", if you count Tuch still despite him being 25 and only breaking 50 points once in his career, and 4 total pieces. In addition, Krebs comes nowhere close to the asks of Byfield/Turcotte or Zegras that were reportedly "necessary" if he went to LA or Anaheim.

Point is, Arizona can ask all they want for 3 firsts with guys in the category of Spencer Knight and Clarke. But they likely aren't getting it. If those are "necessary pieces", Chychrun will just stay in Arizona.

As I allude to, I think Knight and Clarke are in a tier of their own here amongst these trades. Both Florida and LA say emphatically no because they have lesser prospects in their system that equate to what the ask is from the other teams in these trade proposals.

Then Florida doesn't acquire him. They aren't giving up Knight especially after trading Levi this summer.

Anaheim shouldn't acquire him because the price would probably be too high. McTavish is definitely not available and the Ducks in general shouldn't give ups any 1sts and in terms of prospects they shouldn't trade one of their 5 best prospects. They have to be be patient with the rebuilding process and shouldn't trade for Chychrun (except if they trade Lindholm and trade part of the return for Chychrun + own assets).

Yeah, I would agree and also put Knight in that category. On one hand that puts these teams in a better position to acquire Chychrun than the others, but also (which another user wrote) enables these teams to offer lesser prospects as they can match other teams proposals anyway.

I can understand putting these guys in the offers isn't maybe likely, but so was Krebs, and I think it would be possible for us to hold on (as other trades BA has made) and get one team to budge. That is probably why so many teams have been made public; to drive the price up.

Maybe I'm just a complete homer and overvaluing him, but I do believe we'll get a return no one expected. Or am just holding on to that hope, as I don't like the fact we are shopping him.

I couldn't agree more with the last clause in your comment. I think it is a terrible idea for Arizona to be shopping him, and an even worse idea for the Coyotes to trade him. To me, he's the Victor Hedman cornerstone on which to build your future team.

I agree Anaheim is in a position where they shouldn't trade for Chychrun. I gave a general answer in post 12 to wrap things up.

Yup, it's a shame. He was untouchable in the summer, but something has changed. I can't blame him. A full on rebuild and I don't think he liked the Dvorak trade as they were good friends. He hasn't asked for a trade, but it feels like they have had some kind of discussions about the future and felt like this was something inevitable after all.

Well, I think that if Arizona management is going to make that mistake, there's a very good chance that Chychrun will end up in SoCal, especially given Rob Blake's comments earlier this season that what he's interested in most is a young high-quality left defenseman with term.

It almost sounds like he is talking about Chychrun specifically. It is a major need for LA so it makes sense. I think the biggest obstacle is we would prefer to move him out East and that is interesting to see how it plays out. If he stays in the West though, LAK has got to be the favourite.
