Leafs can just wait until a cheaper time to move bad cap, the offseason. De Haan they can make work regardless and at a much lower price.

Leaf's fans: What are you actually kidding me right now, Mrazek and Ritchie are not dumps. Where not trading them for an 8th-9th defensemen. I'd rather let Campbell walk.
Also Leaf's fans: Mikheyev, Holll, Ritchie, 2nd = Chrychrun.

TOR is fleecing us here. The 3rd-4th for DeHaan is sufficient. While a 1st is nice, that cap and term is not and will actually hamper us. We don't have a whole heap of cap heading into next year.

De Haan is surprisingly very good, I think he’d be an underrated pickup by TOR.

Can't help but notice you didn't pay any attention to my post. Why would the Leafs pay a premium to move cap at an expensive time of the season to do it, the trade deadline when no one has cap space to use, as opposed to keeping depth for the playoffs, while waiting for the offseason when teams actually have cap space to use, and being able to make the trade anyway? This trade, and yours before it, make no sense for the Leafs. They are just homer trades trying to get 1sts for a lesser Chicago player rather than trades that actually work.

You’re exaggerating lol. Just cause those players aren’t worth anything doesnt mean the Leafs need to or are going to pay valuable assets to offload them

Cap moves (for next year) don't typically happen at the TDL. So I hear you there. I'm still not sure you're going to get a better price, but you never know. Mrazek is a streaky goalie and has been for years. Maybe he gets on a hot streak? If he doesn't, it'll still cost you a lot to dump him.

What position would you like to improve on the Leafs come the TDL?

I think there's 2 months to wait and see. The Leafs defense has been sticking out lately so that's where everyone's attention is. Their top 6 on the left isn't strong either. I'm happy to wait and see what I think then. If I was making moves today, I'd sign Kane for the top 6 and trade for a defenseman. I think in an AGM I made, I moved Mikheyev out for [asset] to do it.

As a Hawks fan...over the years I'd get into this internal debate. Trade away the 1st and mortgage the future for the cup? The hard part is that every year a number of other teams do improve. Ultimately, despite the current situation in CHI. I'm happy they mortgaged the future. They went for it and happened to be successful. But even if they were...they at least did everything could.

I heard Marek saying that TOR management might not make any moves this tdl...small ones maybe...

Personally I'm against trading 1sts for rentals at the deadline. It doesn't work far more often than it does. Marek's take is Marek's take but I don't think its grounded in reality. Dubas' job is on the line this season, he's not likely to survive another 1st round exit. I think there's very little chance he doesn't move that 1st out to improve the team.

ive seen holl ritchie robertson and a first be done by a leaf fan and as for the buffalo comment nothing wrong with buffalo rn they are a team with a nright future with cozens, quinn, peterka, power, dahlin, etc so is that even an insult being the leafs would be a worse insult because they are filled with fans who trash on players when they have an off game and want to make all these big splashes but arent willing to spend what they have to make those splashes you guys need to resign campbell and every gm knows that you dont have the space to do so and well hold you guys hostage for that first same thing was done with chicago and bickels contract
