If he puts up north of 60 points, which he is on pace for, he is going to sign for between 4.75-6.0M AAV or sign somewhere else. He has proven himself as a big body presence who can finally play on McDavid's wing.

I think they should regardless if they can get a 1st. Flip the 1st for something they do need. They can sign a FA goalie to pair with Swayman if they need to next year.

That's a great return for Connor Brown but Ottawa shouldn't make this deal.
They'll be very young again next season and need him to anchor a line in their top 9.
Other than Watson, Brown is potentially the oldest forward on the team next season.
Something like a Greig-Pinto-Brown line.
If they can't extend him beyond next season they can still get a great return for him at the next deadline.

If I'm Ottawa GM, I'm not trading Connor Brown but I am extendsing him 5 years at 5.0

If he refuses, then I trade him for a 1st + prospect.

However, I'd choose a different prospect as I personally think Lavoie will bust
