Thought I was gonna see another garbage Severson trade, but this is fair imo. Just dk if the Devs are looking to deal him. Longest tenured player and could be important to have on a young team

I’d probably accept. Foote is more defensive and we need a defensive right handed dman for the future. He would get a real nice opportunity in NJ. Even though we do need veterans, I think we should sign guys. Plus Joseph and a first. I don’t think the devs could pass on this offer

Overpay for sure but just like with Coleman, hes signed for another year after this and at 1 million he would be worth it. Foote has improved but i just cant see him sticking much longer. Joseph is a solid 3rd liner but he just seems like the odd man out being an RFA in the offseason and could look for close to 2m a year

And how many roster players did Brisebois trade for Coleman drastic overpay for not enough return. I think you're undervaluing Joseph

Nolan Foote has more value than either one of Cal or Joey, the 1st is gonna be late like the one in the Coleman deal. RHD are also alot more valuable than middle 6 wingers like Coleman was. he only had that value cause he was a 20 goal scorer on a cheap contract for another year. we also didnt have NJ retain any cap.

And your giving up a young solid RHS defenseman and 1 player whose contracts they are going to need next year and one who by even your projected numbers is well needed.and farm systems get depleted by trading away too many firsts

Love Foote but hes been hovering Bust territory and has shown maybe a few flashes of top 4 dman since last year but hes is so slow that Maroon looks like McDavid skating by him. we never keep the players we draft with our 1st rounders anyway so what does that matter, we still have a great farm system because of our scouting and later round hits. this year is a deep draft so im fine with moving out a 1st if it means a chance for a 3 peat. we are in a win now mode and while Foote is a young dman who can be of great assistance in future years, Severson fills a need now and if we get double retention on him to bring his cap hit to $1m for this year and next, that is alot more valuable to us than Foote and Joseph are. Joey is a middle 6 winger who has speed but lacks hands and finishing. reminds me of JT Brown alot who also couldnt finish on a breakaway to save his life. JBB has shown he isnt scared to make a move for players especially with another year on their contract. if Yzerman was the GM still, we wouldnt even be talking about this kind of trade.

Could probably do it without Joseph given how deep Devils prospect pool is with middle-six wingers, not sure what need he fills going forward.
Hope Fitz would take this return for Severson.
