You could get more if youd trade those guys individually you know. Price 3 millions retained for Koskinen, Kassian, Holloway and a first. Chiarot to NYI or NYR for a first and a 3rd (perhaps a second). Dvorak for a first (but I wouldnt trade him). Toffoli, Drouin, Gallagher, Hoffman, Armia, Edmundson (if he truly wants out), Petry and Weber (for LTIR relief) should all be traded for maximum assets

Edmonton doesn't want cups. They would prefer to keep all their 1sts, Holloway, and Bourgault. At least that's the impression I get from Edmonton fans here. They definitely don't want cap dumps like Price or rentals like Chiarot.

Only piece that I’d be interested if I’m EDM is Dvorak retained. That would be a solid 3C for them at a good price. I’d try to see what that might cost on its own.

first and second.

the thing is, EDM needs all these pieces and they're not winning anything without more forward and defensive depth. And most importantly, a legit goalie.

price gives you the best chance out of any goalie available to acquire.

I wouldn't pay a 1st for Chiarot though -- and I really don't think any team is taking on the Price contract, even with retention.

Dvorak gives EDM gives them a better bottom 6 and a guy that can play 3C effectively. I don't disagree that they have other areas they need to improve, but I don't see that happening with a MTL deal.

idk how EDM fans watch terrible goaltending night in night out and still think that price at 5 million wouldn't be a good shot to take. blows my mind. that's 6.1% of EDMs 82mill cap hit. for Carey Price. the guy who just carried a team full of scrubs to the finals a few months ago.

Not an EDM fan, but 1 playoff run doesn’t change the fact that he’s been declining for the better part of the past 4 years; he just hasn’t been very good. He’ll also be 35 next season with 4 years left on his deal, and I don’t see him getting any better. This wouldn’t solve any of EDM’s goaltending woes, would just make it more expensive. I agree that they need to address goaltending, but Price isn’t the answer.

Why go for a Cup when you can once again waste some of the best talent in the league. They did it to Hall, Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins. They know what they are doing...

Price just dragged a team without McDavid and Draisaitl to the Cup Final, now imagine what he could do with the 2 best forwards in the league giving him goal support...

Price has regressed in the regular season. Most likely due to being cautious with injuries. Watch him in the playoffs, he is still the best goalie in the league. Willing to have his knee explode to hand his team the Cup.

Add 4-5 more futures and Habs might consider it.

So a bad regular season guy that will be good in the playoffs only for him to get a knee injury at 35+? That’s not a good sell…

If it gets you a Cup, what do you care if he plays average during the season and plays lights out (but injured) in the playoffs?
