The Ducks are in a weird but good position. They are currently 1st in the Pacific, and based on their play up to this point they’re likely the 2nd best team in the Pacific. However, with Manson, Lindholm, and Rakell becoming UFAs this season they could possibly lose three of their core players in the offseason. Right now the Ducks are good, but their chances of contending for a Cup this season are highly unlikely.
With that acknowledgment, it’s in the Ducks’ best interest to sell these expiring contracts in order to set up Zegras and Drysdale for their Cup windows. Also, the Ducks GM, Jeff Solomon, has reiterated that they are a rebuilding team.
With these trades you can see there’s a method by which they can capitalize on their expiring assets while also retaining some of their competitiveness in the present.
For the current roster they subtract: Rakell, Lindholm, Manson, Comtois, Mahura, DLo.
The most costly of those losses being Rakell, Lindholm, Manson and Comtois. However, the Ducks have shown they can still produce when missing Rakell and Comtois. The big issue becomes how well they can defend without Lindholm (their best D) or Manson (3rd best D).
They add to the roster: Dadonov, Liljegren, and Chychrun. The obvious big addition is Chychrun. Chychrun should be able to fit nicely into Lindholm’s spot, although he isn’t playing as well as Lindholm this season the change in quality shouldn’t be incredibly noticeable.
Liljegren is a significant initial downgrade on Manson, however, Fowler has had an ability the past three seasons to make any partner look good and Liljegren has had a good season on a very good Leafs squad.
Dadonov is still a good player, the issue with him is that he’ll likely regress next season and VGK obviously have a really bad cap situation, which is why VGK has to pay to get rid of him. He won’t be the same as Rakell, but he doesn’t have to be, just good enough to play within the top 9.
Finally, the Ducks have a very good prospect in Perrault who is doing well in the AHL and should see some time in the NHL. If he can take over the shooting spot with Milano-Zegras then that with Dadonov should negate most of the loss of skill from Comtois and Rakell.
So with the new roster the Ducks offense becomes marginally worse while their defense takes a decent hit. These changes likely push them below VGK and EDM in the Pacific, but there’s a decent chance they still make the playoffs with this roster.
On top of these roster changes, they also bring in Schneider, a 1st and two 2nds while becoming younger on the backend.
Leaf's fans seem to really want Manson, this is what it might take. Maybe put a condition on the second for games played, turn into a 3rd next year if Manson gets injured.
Schneider is a good prospect but seems like he doesn't have a road in NYR with Trouba and Fox there for a while. NYR have a strangely aged core because they have very young stars, however, they have stars that should be competing now in Zibanejad, Panarin, Kreider and Trouba. So according to this they should definitely go all in right now while Laf and Kakko are on their ELCs.
Kind of based it around Eichel but less because Chychrun is worth less.
Comtois is three years younger than Tuch and has around that same kind of potential. He played with a floating bone in his hand for this season, which is why his production wasn't like last year. But when healthy he should be able to average 50 pts.
Mahura is more of a B prospect not worth as much as Krebs obviously but Chychrun isn't worth as much Eichel. So I think it's a reasonable trade.
I like your thought process and I understand basing Chychrun around eichel, but the difference with them other than eichel being a centre and better, is the cap hit. Eichels cap hit extremely limited his possible suitors. With Chychruns contract I would say basically every team could be a possible suitor for him. That said I think his price might be a bit higher. As of right now you have a late first, a good player in Comtois, and a decent prospect in mahura. I feel like they would want maybe a player like Tracey or some other higher level prospect.
First off Schneider isn’t for sale. Second we need a third pairing d man if anything. We don’t need a top pair guy with our top 4 set pretty much with Fox and Lindgren and Trouba and Miller. This seems completely unnecessary and we’d be better off targeting a 3C to win faceoffs or a middle six forward to play on the right side.
With retention I think that's a hard trade for the Flames to turn down. Would love the assurance of an extension but I think you put forward a good deal here!

The Rangers left side is very weak. Miller is not performing well in CF% or xGF% next to Trouba and Nemeth is even worse. Lindholm is exactly what they need, they have the offensive horses to create but they don't have defense to get the forwards the puck. I think in a trade like this Scheider would easily be made available. There's not really a slot for him in NYR for the next 5 years anyway.

Miller has improved over time and he and Trouba have been a solid second pair. Nemeth is the only position I’d be concerned about upgrading or replacing and it wouldn’t cost Schneider and a 1st to do so. Analytics don’t tell the entire story, not too mention Miller is only 21. There’s no reason for us to do the above trade. If you don’t watch the Rangers night in and out I don’t think analytics provide the full picture.

Well if you don’t think analytics provide a good enough picture for a trade then I don’t think you’re a good judge for what an actual GM would consider.

All I said is that it doesn’t provide the full picture. Never said they have no value.
