Description
Cause of cap constraints it isnt everything that's needed but its a start.

Chychurn is going to get a kings ransom given his age, contract and a lot of teams would die to have an elite ( near elite) two-way dman like him on their team.
For kessell, this is all contingent on Arizona willing to retain and take on kassian and barrie. I think they might be because they would need to reach the cap floor still and are getting a solid sum of futures in the trade as it. Maybe a condition on the lower pick but, other than that it seems pretty fair far a middle 6 rental winger.

As for the flower, this is the shot in the dark. I feel if the hawks come back down to earth then his value will be lower enough to poach but, if he can still play at high level and is keeping the hawks in games, goes to olympics, etc. then he'dbe out of the oilers price range. Which means a skinner smith tandem cause KOSKINEN IS BRUTAL (this is most likely scenario as LT golatending is probably going to be addressed in the offseason IMO)

Benson is on the cusp of being waived and doesn't hold much if any value towards this move. We would prefer to retain on MAF and get the better pick. If we took the 2nd it would have to be conditional that if you made the cup finals it becomes a 1st, particularly because we also hold the conditions on your 3rd becoming a 2nd.

they get a actual nhl middle 6 forward with term (helping to the floor), and 2 dmen that will be in their top 4 for a while and a pick around 20th a top 50ish pick and actually will have contracts beyond this year which is a major issue they have. plus kessel rention money off the books after this year too which the cheap birds in the desert will love. the additional 3rd probably is a stretch Ill agree with that.

Flower I think is a stretch to begin with. Holland screwed the pooch with the goaltending and put the team in too much cap/depth hell for any realistic move with flower (unless Chicago falls off a cliff). I was just trying to gauge what his value might even be given his cap hit and the team he plays for

You severely overvalue Barrie here.

Lets say 2nd to dump Kassian, that leaves Barrie Broberg and a 1st for Kessel at 50% and Chychrun. Barrie has been a disaster this year and is 30 with 2 more years on his deal after this one so his value to a rebuilding team is arguably negative. So that leaves Broberg and the 1st as the only positive value Arizona is receiving here

You forget that corporate old hockey men love barrie as an OFD. there's a reason he's had more lives than a cat. And with Arizona he will be the undisputed PP1 option for years and they get a vet dman to be there when younger guys marinate and not get rushed. Barrie and kass help with the cap floor and kass will get much more opportunity with the yotes. So they get 2 guys that will be in their T4 next year and a middle 6 guy + a top 20 pick in an extremely deep draft. We have seen what kinds a nutty stuff they have been willing to take for 1sts before too so this inst out of the coytes ballpark if we look at their previous decision making.

Chicago rather retain half on fleury and get that 22 first rounder when Arizona definitely declines that chychrun offer

I've already said the flower thing is a stretch but thought I would include it given how much edmonton has been clamouring for it. But the chychurn + kessel move is almost there honestly if bourgeault subs out one of the picks in the deal. That 3rd also a big stretch. without the 3rd The deal is quite possible given the contract issues and lack of NHL players in the desert currently

This trade is an embarrassment from the Arizona side. Any Chychrun deal with ANY team starts with an unprotected 2023 1st and A level prospect and from there you add. This isn't Eichel with a neck surgery and 10M ticket, this is a 23 year old fringe Norris defenseman, who makes 4.6 M. (which btw is HALF of what Nurse is about to make, while being a better player than Nurse). Really think about what you've proposed.. first, getting to the floor isn't an issue for the Yotes, there are so many cap dump players.. (Lucic, Dadonov, Alec Martinez, Mrazek, Josh Bailey just to name a few) that are going to be out there just like Ghost and Stralman this most recent offseason that the Coyotes can take on and get assets... and meet the floor. That's a silly thing to say. So what use is Kassian to rebuilding team? If he's in there for salary matching fine.. but don't act like he has ANY value. Same story with Barrie, useful player, makes no sense on a rebuilding team.

Also... why is Kessel in this deal? He's a piece the Coyotes can move in a different trade for more assets, its a waste to put him in this.

Second, I know you all think Holloway and Savoie etc are "untouchable" but no one besides 97 and 29 are untouchable.. you're getting a 23 year old Norris level D man who is cost controlled. Any deal is 2023 unprotected 1st, Holloway +

Uh he wouldn't even be #1 right now, they already have Gostisbehere who is a better OFD.

There are a lot more ways for them to reach the cap floor then trying to justify bad contracts as positive value for that. Reaching the floor is not hard at all to do, so many teams will be trying to dump cap nexzt year.

Your valuations are way off here.

he is an elite 2-way guy but, to call him a near norris level dman is a major stretch. Im saying that holloway is a non-starter because he is a guy that is already a roster player at 19/20 YO. Unfortunately the injury has delayed his debut in the show. Oilers would not need a broberg who does have a high ceiling, barrie is capable for handling top pair mins especially for a team trying to tank the next couple years and kass is to make the money work and have a guy with term because you can't have a team with 2 guys signed though this year.

you forget that hockey men love both kassian and barrie. RHD are still a premium and barrie is signed for a few years so kids don't get rushed and is a vet. Broberg is a guy that could easily slot in the top4 NY and a 20th-ish pick in a deep draft isn't nothing. I'd probably take out the kessel stuff and 3rd all together but, I already knew that'd be a stretch

Barrie would get the jump ahead of ghost. more experience, more production over a larger sample size, is a vet, etc. Basically Barrie as a vet OFD RHD with top pair experience would get a nudge over ghost. plus it'd be beneficial for a tanking team (for a few yrs) to max barrie's minutes to help them get those high picks. The kessel+3rd part is a stretch, I'll admit that. I'd probably add a lavoie or something extra on the oiolers side as well sine the yotes need a young forward under contract that'll crack the roster NY
