You put it as this year so not sure when you were predicting the trade to happen. I don't think it's terrible, but CGY's cap will be tight and not entirely sure they can hold Toffoli along with their necessary signings in Gaudreau, Chucky, Mangiapagne, Kylington, etc

Monahan -Toffoli is a need based trade, Montreal needs a center and Calgary needs top 6 winger help and Toffoli can play either side.

Dvorak I'd good defensively and has lacked so far offensively. I think of this as more spreading the talent than a traditional 1, 2,3 and 4 line team besides that 4th line is a more traditional 3rd line on most teams

i can't tell if youre being serious or not. dvorak is not good defensively. he's an offensive talent and should be played on the 3rd line. evans is much more suited for a defensive role.

Why does Calgary need top 6 winger help? Gaudreau, Chucky, Mangiapagne, Dube, and Coleman is a strong top 6+1 winger group. If you take away Monahan you then have to put Dube back at center (which, to be fair, gives room for Toffoli), and that's a pretty rough center core going into the playoffs... I think their best bet is to keep things status quo and hope that Monahan keeps getting back to his game, and it's a potential trade in the off season, again depending on their more important signings
