Would Calgary trade Monahan without a center coming back? I doubt it

Backlund and Dubé are not really top 6 centers.. at least not on a contending team.

Dube is a 1st liner … that’s what CGY fans are saying and Backlund is doing a good job at 2C like Danault was doing for us

He could be a first liner but he's better on the wing. He can play centre but I don't think it would be ideal for a team trying to contend. Backlund is a good 3C that can fill in on the second line here and there but not ideal for that role full time. I'm sure they would like a player like Toffoli but they don't have the cap space for him and I feel the only player they really want to move would be Lucic and he can't be moved.

    Stralman 5.5M costed a 2nd round pick
Byron is a better player than Stralman and he is making 2M less

yea your right about the years.

    stralman cost a prospect and a 2nd so yotes still get a 2nd or struble + 3rd.

there is no need for the penguins to do this.
If anything they are a worse team with this deal.
Zucker is a faster player, that's how they want to play. He's playing really well with a slower center, his line only gets better with Malkin back.
So I see no reason they make this move.
Too many people on here knocked Zucker's game. His game has been fine. Too much expectations. People acted like a 20 goal guy is going to turn into a 40 goal guy because Malkin is his center. That's just rubbish. 40 goal players are 40 goal players, and 20 goal players are 20 goal players. It's all the other things he does well which they need.
