if the article is right then i see no reason why the devils shouldn't be all in for girard.
two things:
1) the deal doesn't work.
- colorado doesn't want picks or prospects; they're in win now mode. a trade for girard is likely looking at bratt and wood and sweeteners, not picks.
- the devils should seriously keep their pick here for 2022. it's a deep draft, and there's no way we're competing in the metro: we're probably looking at another top 10 pick (likely 9 or 10), and next season will be the year as washington, philly, and pittsburgh regress.
2) ur article is wrong.
- girard is an elite puck moving defenseman signed at a steal of a contract considering the defenseman market right now. there's no way colorado moves him just because byram is looking good. they can happily live with their abundance of riches (in this case, riches is elite puck moving dmen) in makar, toews, byram, AND girard: easily the most loaded top 4 in the league. they're trying to win now: they're not in cap hell so they're not going to be moving their 3rd/4th best dman who would be a top 2 man on any other team.
