The Boqvist trade is very different than the Panarin trade. The honest response between those trades is...go look at the voting and comments on the day of the Panarin trade. Link Below. People thought CBJ won, but Panarin was a 60-65 point player that might fail in Torts system...and might go back to the KHL. The distain for the Panarin trade is PURELY hindsight. Again, the post asks to be honest...If someone told me today.....that back in June of 2017, they though Panarin would be a Hart candidate...they're just lying. It's a lie.
I can admit (just like I admit I wanted Byram over Dach) that I wanted Seth Jones as a Hawk. My issue with that trade is ALL the other stuff. Boqvist, the 2021 swap, the 2022 pick, the $9.5M contract...it's just all so much garbage. Wait the 1 freakin season STAN! Nothing about the Boqvist trade made sense from day 1. There's not hindsight there. It's immediate and was stupid on day 1.
Now going forward it's ROUGH. Stan's probably sitting there pointing to high danger chances allowed and just saying...all we need is time. So stupid, but that's probably what he's thinking. I'm HOPING (but not holding my breath) that Seth Jones will be like Campbell. At the time of the Campbell signing he was overpaid too, BUT you need to overpay a UFA for a team rebuidling. That doesn't make the trade ok. It's NOT ok. It's just a full admission that everyone of value that's older need to be traded away. Toews/Kane/Kubalik/MAF...probably the cat too. Rebuild it right. Don't go half way.
