Not even close in my opinion. Eichel is a top 10 Center in the NHL.

I think this trade sucks for the Sabres.

Personally I wouldn’t trade a superstar $3M retained one for one for a goalie who barely has played NA hockey and has yet to prove anything in the NHL. Askarov is a good prospect but that is extremely risky for Buffalo and if I were them I would go a safer route than that

The disrespect to Craig Anderson.... Anyways sabres have Luukkonen, Levi, and Portillo in the system. It would be a mistake to trade Eichel for another goalie.

Goalies don't hold that kind of value. Eichel is a franchise C. They are way harder to find than a possible No. 1 goalie (Preds are a good example of this).

And to think a straight up 1 for 1 would also get Buffalo to retain $12M.

Add a first this year and remove the retained salary, and buffalo accepts.

Preds aren't in a position to trade for Eichel however.

It's a good start but NSH would have to keep adding to make it worth it esepcially if BUF is eating $3M. Probably be Askarov+Tomasino+Tolvanen+1st

Just think about how much cap has been worth in the past. We’ve seen 6mil cap dumps be worth ~1 first. The salary retention alone here is 15 mil, so that’s 2.5 firsts, on top of Eichels value. You’re telling me a goalie prospect is worth that much? Either you’re trolling or don’t understand value in hockey.
